Danny "Lord" Etling(Super Bowl champion)

My my how JB changed my perception of a qb at LSU.

Honestly imho JB had the best season ever by a college qb. Look at that schedule and his stats unfuking believable.

Danny was a tough son of a bitch too. Not nearly as talented as Joe, but could take a lick and jump right back up.

And while Danny wouldn't have done what Joe did, I'll bet he'd have been pretty damned successful in that offense

He was a smart dude and savvy QB

I’ve said this before. He was a lot better than he got credit for and what history will remember him for. He would have been great in last year’s offense. Not Burrow great, but dude was smart and tough, and I think we would have won a lot of games with him.

Etling, like Jamie Howard, was a better than average college QB, one tough son of a gun. To bad he did not have the opportunity to play in the current offense. He transferred from Purdue, sat out a year & started the next two. Think he is still on the Falcons practice squad.

Danny had a decent completion percentage and didn't turn the ball over. Also won a lot of games.

He was a good smart qb while he was here...problem was the offense was still in the dark ages and we had no real offensive or defensive lines to compete aganist the big boy teams
Coach O realized this after losing to bama in 2018...it amazing that he accomplished this in just one year..what a total team transformation

Danny would have thrown 30 TDs in that offense last year

Fixed it. I'm not big on retiring a bunch of numbers, but 9 should be in there with 20, 21, and 37.

I remember Danny would under throw a bunch of deep balls and draw PI. Of course he never intentionally under threw them but it was a positive of his below average arm strength

My CSB moment with JB

Planned a trip to NY with the wife and some friends. Just so happened to be heisman weekend. Not only did we run into Joe at the hotel earlier in the day, we then were randomly selected to go up on the red carpet, and then placed right next to where all the previous heisman winners and this years heisman candidates walked up. Eventually was able to take some pics with JB before he walked in. Then hightailed it to Lengends to catch the award.

NY is normally a great trip during the holidays. This trip will never be matched. Ever.

Kind of shitty to forget DE when the dude put 100% effort into every game. Wasn’t elite talent wise but was elite effort wise.

Fun fact: Danny Etling outrushed Derrius Guice 48-44 in a preseason game last year, and was the game's leading rusher.

Yep.

He isn't on the level where he can carry a team. But give him a good supporting cast and he'll win.

He certainly isn't worse than Josh Heupel or Trent Dilfer.
