Some have posted that Chris Davenport should get a look, not just at garbage time at the end of games. I suppose the coaching staff is not comfortable with him as the starter.

I do think playing Towson State should give the team a chance to look at other options at LT & hope this opportunity won't be squandered.

If the plan is to keep JoshD at LT, then he needs to drop about 20 lbs before UF and maximize his quickness.

In '09 when he played LG he weighed about 280 (too light). Since, he's bulked up to about 300 (with playing G in view) and he's too slow to play LT. Dunno how his athleticism compares to his pre-injury days but "then" he was very athletic.

I keep hearing this.

Everybody thinks they're smarter than coach.
Pretty common knowledge an OL is built with your strongest guys from the inside out.
A weak middle is worse for passing and rushing.
See LSU 2009.

I think the knee injuries have more to do with the decline in his athleticism/ mobility than the weight gain does

my thoughts are, miles is not leaving josh d. in to play favorites knowing he could get his qb killed. 1) miles does not want to disturb his ol continuity by moving collins or hurst 2) we have absolutely no one on the bench who is ready for sec play. alexander is a 360lb true freshman and I don't see how he could block an athletic de or pickup the blitz from a fast db. good luck josh d.

It's interesting because when he did play guard for two years his biggest issue was being overpowered. If/when he goes up against a strong DE with a good bull rush that may become an issue again.

At guard he never showed real good athleticism. He was marginal at getting into the second level to get linebackers. We never saw his lateral quickness on display but so far it looks like he's going to struggle to keep up with speed rushers.

i guess continuously giving up sacks and tackles in the backfield on running plays is continuity in one way

I really hope miles belief in Josh D doesn't come back to bite LSU in the arse, but I have a feeling it will.

What happens if there just isn't a better option at LT at the moment?

Play-calling (throwing on 1st down) and schemes (using a TE/RB) can absorb some of the "damage." Also, I'm hopeful that Josh can improve some. Gotta think he can play better than he did last Sat.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was getting at. Some of these guys think we have a bevy of All-Americans lined up behind Chris Faulk, when in reality JD may in fact be our best option.

But leave it to these guys to know for a fact that Les likes to bench better players.

Here's a great write up from the Times Picayune on the whole issue:

Times Pic article on Dworaczsky

I like the guys's attitude at least. Seeking out extra time to practice against Mingo and taking responsibility. Hope he can come around.
