Think that's why he goes from 1st round to 2nd. Greatest playmaking Tiger I have seen in my 22 years on this planet. Which is saying a lot because we are LSU

Too many concerns to go that high.

If he was 3 inches taller, maybe.

Yea a factor in him being the most marketable player in this class. They better hope he don't produce on the field or everyone might start smoking pot in college

Yea maybe for 31 teams but it only takes 1 team to like you. He will not make it to the 3rd round.

you don't get the concerns of a player who had a habitual off the field issue? this wasn't an isolated incident. he failed three drug tests to get kicked off the team and then was arrested just months later for the same thing. he does that in the nfl, he's suspended. when you add in the question marks as to his ability to cover guys at his size, yes there are question marks as to the risk/reward of using a 2nd round pick. it's a business decision and makes complete sense. if tyrann were 6'0" 200 lbs, then that conern goes down. if he didn't have off the field problems, the concern goes down. when you add both together, it absolutely presents concerns a GM will have to weigh. no, it doesn't mean he'll continue to have off the field issues or that he won't be able to matchup with nfl players at his size, but it's still, without a doubt, something that will affect his draft potential. he even acknowledges as much.

Re: josh reed was arguably the most productive player in LSU history but fell to the 2nd round because of his size, and he didn't have any off the field issues

I don't know if anyone is an ESPN insider but today they were talking about Raven potentials at the number 32 spot and Mathieu's name came up. I still don't think he goes in the first but I'm starting to lean toward mid second round. I think if he actually reaches the third round, I'd be surprised.

Out of all 32 teams, someone has to be in love with his ball skills and playmaking ability. Especially considering he can return a little. Which leads me to believe someone, who has faith in their locker room/organization, will pull the trigger in the second round.

Very well could. He had a great workout today.

-Multiple character concerns
-Short
-Projects as more of a nickel
-Can he carry that production to the NFL playing against men?

All of that together will hurt him.

-Multiple character concerns Aren't Ricky Williams and Reggie Bush still playing??

-Short Barry Sanders, anyone?

-Projects as more of a nickel Okay???

-Can he carry that production to the NFL playing against men? Same concern as Trindon Holliday?

No, Ricky Williams retired.

Reggie Bush had issues with taking cash, but he's always been a good guy that's never gotten into trouble.

Mathieu has been suspended, disciplined and ultimately booted. Then arrested.

He's just a kid and has time to right that ship, but it's still a concern.

Short running backs aren't the same thing as short corner backs.

Okay, what? Look at some of the guys that play nickel and tell me who among them is a high draft pick? Charles Woodson is the only one and he started as a true outside guy.

This makes zero sense and has nothing to do with it. Holliday has one ability: returns.

Mathieu was highly productive in college. He's got instincts. The tape is there.

The question is can he carry that into the NFL against guys that are his athletic equal and superior?

Alabama pretty successful schemed him out of games. Isolate him in coverage and suddenly he's not the turnover forcing machine we all know. Now, he's good in coverage, but is a guy covering the slot someone you spend a high pick on?

Really it comes down to those questions. If a team thinks he can carry that over, and his troubles are a thing of the past, then they will take a chance. A lot of teams won't, though.
