What do you base that on?

Surprised we didn't see anything about him on the recruiting board last year. I'd have to imagine he was pretty good in highschool

Fine. I'll be honest, I always read it as Shortness. Didn't even realize I was doing it. Eyes playing tricks on me.

I was hoping for something more other than empty platitudes. I understand you think he sucks, did any plays in the actual game yesterday lead you to that conclusion? Did he struggle to defend? Has he still not learned how to inbound the basketball?

he cant shoot. everything is a flat out brick. he's slow as molasses. and he is a poor dribbler as well. he plays kinda long and at times is a decent passer. that's about it though.

he had an alley oop (really what skill is in that) on a fast break and that was it. he missed everything else badly. i do remember him making a nice pass to hickey for a 3. that's the only good play i recall from him all night.

I do think when Coleman is back, he takes almost all of Hammink's minutes. From the start I think Hammink averages 5 min/gm played but sits out a good number of games.

He's still young and inexperienced. He can still contribute, but he'll need to shoot better from behind the arc and defend well. He'll never be a starter, but he isn't terrible.

I agree with all of this except for the young and inexperienced part.

again disagree. if his last name wasnt hammink i doubt he would have a scholarship.

i would be surprised at all if he ever developed. he just has zero skill set.

He played good D (as did nearly everyone on the team), and most of his minutes today were due to Coleman being hurt.

I'll agree that he won't ever amount to anything but a bench player at LSU, however to say he played terrible last night isn't fair to him.

He didn't commit a turnover and had 2 assists. That in itself is enough to give him a relatively decent grade.

Coleman being hurt + exhibition game. i never said i had issue with the minutes he got in this particular game.

Yeah, this is the key.

i'd have to rewatch. perhaps he didnt have a turnover because we ultimately ended up with it but i think he fumbled the ball several times. he was not crisp with the ball in his hands from what i remember.

You realize that some of the freshman on the team are older than Hammink.

No, I didn't realize that actually. But still, Hammink got a lot of minutes last year. I have kind of a hard time using inexperience as a crutch. I think he'll be a decent bench player, hell maybe he'll even be a good bench player IF he improves his outside shot. As of right now, I don't see him as much more than a 4-5 minute guy to put in in a pinch.

Let's just back off of the Hammink talk and notice something...

Darcy Malone's knees were showing...

He's a 19 year-old Sophmore who didn't get a ton of minutes last season. That's young and inexperienced to me.

Fair enough. I'm really not trying to bash the kid. I was just hoping to see a little more at this point. Not sure about his upside.
