I know Linehan won't have too much control of the offense, but I definitely think he'll try to get us to throw to these RBs. I may have mentioned this a few months ago, but not in much depth if any, so I kinda wanted to bring it back up.

Here's a list of RBs that had the most receptions of their NFL career under Linehan:
Michael Bennett (37 in 2002 - #25 in the league) played for 10 years
Moe Williams (65 in 2003 - #6) 10 years
Steven Jackson (90 in 2006 - #1) 12 years
Kevin Smith (41 in 2009 - #12) played 5 years
Jahvid Best (58 in 2010 - #6) 3 years
Maurice Morris (26 in 2009,11 - #25) 10 years
Joique Bell (53 in 2013 - #8) 7 years
Ezekiel Elliot (77 in 2018 - #4) playing in his 5th year
Reggie Bush had 54 in 2013 (which was #7 in the league 1 spot in front of his teammate Joique Bell), his highest outside his 1st 2 years in NOLA when we targeted him 219 times. played for 11 years

All 3 of these back seem capable of being good receivers IMO

He better if he's being paid to coordinate the passing game and all that jazz

not exactly how I meant that. just was referring to the crew that tends to scream "he's only the PGC" in a somewhat dismissive way

I would like to see some great screen pass plays. I think a screen pass is a great weapon if not over used. Also the wheel route. Look at Sabans past offenses. Just about every game a couple of screen passes and wheel routes ran by tightends and running backs.

I think you'll see alot of balls thrown to the backs, especially early in the schedule. It will have some to do with the scheme, but Brennan will also be looking for the safe throws until he adjusts to game speed/looks from the defense. Once he settles in, I think the backs will still get touches, but he'll be more comfortable trusting his reads.

This is also a fair point, but I more or less mean that the offense will be designed to throw to the backs often

I'm worried about Brennan's touch on the ball , esp early in the year. It's much easier for him to throw deep balls now , at least i think this to be true . It gives the receiver a chance to correct on a ball not thrown perfectly . Those short crossing throws better bw w/touch, or an interception becomes more likely.I wouldn't be surprised to see deep throws if Miss St plays man on man .

lol true - 79 receptions for the RBs in 2019. maybe there's not a noticeable change on a game by game basis, but Linehan's Detroit running backs averaged 96 receptions per season. that's about a 5 reception per game average vs. 6 per game.
