re: This will end with 25 or 28 Team BIG vs 25 or 28 Team SEC
Do it like English Soccer.

Two leagues with 40 teams per league. A Premier League with the top 40. A Contenders League with the final 40. Each league has 4 Divisions. Nine games within each division with three games against the opposite League.

Top two in each division in a (up to) three games to crown the national champ.

THEN, team 9 and 10 from each Premier League division play one bowl game against team 1 and 2 from the Contenders League.

The winning teams of the re-seeding bowl determines who Premier teams 9 and 10 will be the following season.

Big 12 and the ACC won't be denied at the table of e-x-p-a-n-s-i-o-n. The Big 12 brass are adding U of Houston, and seriously considering including Utah and Colorado in the fold.

You left out Duke, BYU and AZ State from your 2 super conferences and your loser list.

It’s amateur athletics every time you shoot hoops in the driveway…

But the concept of amateur athletics broadcast on TV or played in front of crowds will end. It will all be pro or semipro and no one will play without compensation in any venue anywhere

The age of the 10-12 team regional conference's is dead.

To state the obvious, the money driving this is amazing.

A report today said the Big Ten was aiming for a $1 billion dollar per year contract before the addition of USC and UCLA.

Now with projected teams, they may be aiming for a $100 million payout for each Big Ten team.

The SEC will be following. LSU may be in store for some big bucks in the next years.

I think 60 teams - No SEC or BIG. Will be East and West Conferences with 3 divisions of 10 teams each.

Get rid of Conference championship games and go to a 14 team (7&7) single elimination playoff. Highest ranked team on each side gets first round bye and playoff takes 4 weeks (pretty much same as Conference CG and bowl/playoffs currently).

East Conference would be loaded with heavy weights so the line might have to be drawn with a bigger "west side".

All of the other colleges will be College and this can be NIL League or something. Honestly, the schools who are able to best utilize NIL will be the teams getting the "best" players so why not lol

A lot of the thoughts about conferences ignore the other sports.

Will football be out of conferences while the other sports stay in? Do conferences go away completely, with volleyball, tennis, gymnastics, etc. all going their own way?

This.

I could see it ultimately leading to ESPN creating 2 super leagues and poaching the best of each of the current conferences.

This would relieve the burden of conferences like the SEC from having to keep teams like Vanderbilt, Missouri, South Carolina, etc.
