This whole predicament demonstrates the folly of the purely managerial HC model.

When your head coach has literally no tactical acumen or coordinating expertise on either side of the ball, you have to protect three assets instead of one. You have to mollify three egos instead of one. When talented coordinators depart, as they invariably will, every subsequent hire has to be excellent or the program declines. And even if the hires are improbably all successes, you still endure the turmoil of repeated turnover. No matter what transpires this offseason, this will be a recurrent crisis under O. It really doesnt strike me as a sustainable paradigm. Your head coach should have some area of special excellence.
