1. When given time Max can make the Play
2. Deion Smith is an absolute Dude
3, 4, and 5. Give me Bech all day everyday. I want that guy in the fox hole next to me. He is selfless. Comes like 15 years just to lay a block. That guy is a max effort guy and a talented guy. That’s the teammate you want and the future leader of the team.

Good things will happen if he continues to step up in the pocket. Nice to see that adjustment being made.

Bech is no TE project player, either. He is a damn dog who can play WR at the highest level. Let this kid keep his speed and continue to develop at what he does best.

Dude would be a dog in the nfl. But I bet he would do really good with the patriots. Fits their mold at WR

What makes Jack special is that he really loves LSU. He was a diehard tiger growing up and he really values that jersey and what it means to play for LSU

I understand Garrett Dellinger(72) is a freshman but why are you backing up to the QB to engage your block. He basically made Max step up in the pocket by taking a bad angle. Says a lot though when you have a true freshman playing LT. I think he will be a good one by end of year though. Probably already better than Deculus who is like a 6th year senior.

He did it 2 or 3 times all game and the results were outstanding when he did. The problem is he continues to bail, throws off his back foot, decides what he’s gonna do before the play starts and doesn’t let his feet take him to where the play is supposed to go. The box score looked good and there was improvement but it was minimal.

It is a simple case of freshmen doing freshmen things... inexperience.

He gave ground when he didn't have to and was probably focused on keeping his shoulders square to the DE.

That DE took a lazy route after being chipped and that sort of threw Dellinger off. But for a moment Dellinger wasn't between him and Max, and the DE saw that and pushed on a decent angle. That was Dellinger's first mistake, he should have been wider because of the chip and closer to the DE to engage; Ingram had his inside shoulder so his responsibility was out wide alone. That would have not given that DE an open window right at Max.

The second mistake is related to the first- he then gave ground and got deeper to close that window (pretty well I might add). He "covered" by placing himself in the DEs path once he saw him alter his pace and angle. That's what led him backwards. He should have "intercepted" by pushing deeper and wider. He was committed to going deeper by the first mistake, he should have then engaged be going towards the DE to get in his path further away from Max.

Ingram saw it happening and left his zone to engage him, even though Dellinger did recover.

Again, it's an inexperience thing where his mind was telling him to stay square and to "get in the way" and to push towards the DE and engage is contrary to normal passpro technique. If you engage, sort of like you would in a run block, you are at bigger risk to that DE ripping through you. But when you've given ground and are that close to the QB it is the right thing to do because it creates much needed space... because space is time. If you engage further away from the QB and you end up just slowing the DE down, that works.
