This Should be Ed Orgeron's Last Season

At the beginning of the season, I posted that Orgeron should be given a chance based on the myriad of players lost, new coaches, and the effects of COVID.
Since then, there have been numerous Title IX allegations, players leaving/potentially leaving in droves, the lack of improvement on the field and, at least from an optics standpoint, the "off field" issue.
The program is in an unprecedented situation and the leadership of Scott Woodward will either shine bright, or dim under the pressure - my hope is that it will shine bright.
At this point, everything about the program is fractured - the team, the fans, and the product on the field. The program cannot afford to lose ground to our competitors at the astonishing rate that it appears it is.
Therefore, wholesale changes need to be made within the staff to not only appease us, the fans, but more importantly, current players as well as recruits.
I think the only way something happens BEFORE the Title IX investigation is over, is if Woodward catches wind of something so damning, that even Orgeron knows he could not fight it. So, it would appear that nothing will happen until after the investigation is over and the University attorneys can weigh-in on letting Orgeron go with cause.
If not, then there's a massive financial decision that will have to be made - and those that have had to make those decisions before will actually now have to take the state of the University into account like they never have before.
Do you continue to put a subpar product on the field and lose ground on the field, or do you protect dollars that will be vital to the athletic department and University as a whole for the next few years?
Or, do you pull the trigger and let Orgeron go, but knowing that whomever you hire next has to immediately energize the fan base and deliver a great, not good, product immediately. If Orgeron is released without cause, and his buyout has to be paid (along with a slew of other coaches), then the financial hit to the program will be large...just as the hit of a new coach that would have the ability to execute on what needs to be done.
Would we, the fans, be willing to donate enough to the program and the University to the point when the costs could be more easily absorbed?
I don't envy the position Scott Woodward is in right now, but heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Geaux Tigers!

I remember one for Miles but it only had like a thousand on it.

Can we afford all of the buyouts this year? I'd imagine that the budget is pretty tight right now.

O shouldn't get to hire another fricking coordinator unless he pays their buyout himself.

The fire is beginning to show with the massive amount of smoke out there.
I don't see a payout, I see Title IX being the method for the cleaning

Out of curiosity, If the investigating involving the rape accusations prove to be true, is that reasonable cause to fire and get out of the contract?

There is nothing that we know of publicly that points the Title IX issues at O. It looks like an administration issue above him.

Maybe O wants to be fired lol
Maybe he wants to move to Mexico with his lady

Yes but depending on the level of detail if the accusations are true, LSU itself has bigger problems than the football team's W-L record.

Rest assured that Paul Allen and I have our cheque books open and are ready to facilitate this.

If recruiting was taking a hit, I’d agree. But until that happens, O will be coach.
Obviously the rumored opt outs aren’t pleasing, but if they’re quitting on the team now, they weren’t going to make it 4 years at LSU anyway. Now you’re finding out who’s committed to LSU and who was just frontrunning and hopping on the train after the NC.

Even Rummy. wow.
Ed's got no hope.

If I was AD, and there anything in the title IX investigation that implicated O, he would be gone immediately. If the title IX didn’t get him, I would not let him fire Pelini and pay that buyout, unless O signed a revised contract that rescinded the buyout on his current contract.. Too many mistake hires to keep eating the buyouts..
That said, I think if the shite keeps rolling downhill and we lose the next 2 games, you can bet the firm investigating will find strings back to O... JMO
