This reminds me of the Jamarcus vs Matt Flynn Debate

Myles Brennan = Jamarcus for purposes of this debate. He has much better stats but doesn’t always come through in crunch time and makes bone-headed plays sometimes that eventually cost his team a win.

TJ Finley = Matt Flynn

His stats are not as good, but everyone thinks he “just looks better” and he seems to have more swagger and rapport with the team. Things just seem to be smoother with him and he seems to have better command of the offense, even though the stats don’t back that up.

Edit: Let me clarify because there seems to be confusion already. I’m not taking sides for either quarterback. I’m just showing the similarities between this situation and the one we had in the mid- 2000’s with Jamarcus and Flynn.

Except JRuss was not as committed as TJ and certainly didn’t have the work ethic, intellect or leadership ability.

Kind of a tiny sample size to be making these comparisons

Our run game was better. Pressure was off. Team had 2 weeks to settle in more. Even our shite defense looked better.

TJ did not look nearly as good throwing the ball.

His stats are better. He was 14-16 with more than 200 yards by halftime. We went conservative on the 2nd because we had a big lead. Efficiency baw. No one cares that mike leach’s QBs throw for 400 yards a game, they aren’t efficient

Retarded take.

You're comparing a guy with no run game, no defense, and multiple drops by receivers to someone who didn't have to deal with any of that.

Jamarcus had to work with a terrible running game in 2006 just like Myles has this year. The comparison that I’m making still stands.

I’m not arguing for or against either quarterback. Just making a comparison.

LSU averaged 167 rushing yards per game in 2006.

LSU was averaging 96 rushing yards per game coming into last night's game.

Which boneheaded play has Myles made that cost us a game?

You might not remember that season very well, but we struggled to run the ball unless we opened it up with the pass first with Bowe, Davis, Doucet, and LaFell. Our O-Line couldn’t run block for shite, especially during the first half of the season. Also, our running backs weren’t exactly dynamic with a mediocre Justin Vincent, a mediocre post-injury Alley Broussard, and a younger Jacob Hester.

This is a good example of how stats don’t always tell the whole story.

Also, Myles has thrown several interceptions, he went 0 for 10 on third down against Missouri, and he failed to score on 4 plays from the 1-yard line with the game on the line.

The comparison still stands.

I know this because it was well documented that Russell was lazy. Ask Saban. Ask the Raiders.
O has touted his focus such as wanting his own room to study. How about physician parent? He is likely an excellent student

TJ looked much better throwing the ball. Hitting slants over the middle, leading receivers to a particular spot on the field. Brennan has zero pocket awareness and keys in on one specific receiver
