This has a chance to be our best D-Line in a long time. Those guys look like grown men. The ability to control the line of scrimmage on the defensive end will keep us/win us a lot of games this year. I think this is an undervalued aspect of the team by analysts, they have the potential to be the best in the country. Ed O at least left us loaded there.

Sorry, meant to say after watching... my bad

2011 was the last time our DL was considered Elite

The (projected) starting 4: Ojulari, Smith, Roy, Gaye are probably all top 3 round NFL draft prospects. I don't think you can say that about any other position group on the team, so it appears DL is the biggest strength. Let's hope it plays out that way

It's not lost on me that this is being said the season after we fire our previously head coach who was supposed to be a D-Line guru

We’re starting to stack difference makers though . Instead of a bunch of Glenn Logan’s

I want to see what Wiggins and Perkins look like as juniors . We will have one of our best ds ever in 2years . Maybe next year. This year is just puttin on band aids . They will be good players but not memorable. A lot of one and dones that we had to get to plug holes

That in no way applies to the D line though, The D line has the same players as last year besides recruits and Wingo

I agree. The big 5 inside of Roy, Guillory, Mason, Mingo and Langston is formidable if we stay healthy.

We really need Mingo, Wiggins or Langston to play at a high level to be elite. I feel good about the edge even if BJ Or Gaye miss time, we have athletes we can use out there.

It's Wingo , not Mingo, for what it's worth.

I’m in the camp of they’re all very talented but still have a lot to prove IMO

Let’s see what elite coaching a new structure a new S&C program can do in their development

I have high standards when saying the word “elite” when referring to LSU’s defensive line out of respect to the former elite defense lineman and units of the past

I have high confidence that the things mentioned above though will give them the opportunity to cement their legacy’s as elite

Now it’s just up for them to do it and I believe they’re up for the task

Sky’s the limit with the group

I agree, there is legitimately a chance we have 3 1st round guys on the dl with Bj, smith, and Gaye with lots more talent talent in the 2 deep. If they dominate we could have a much better year than expected.

That defensive line in 03 was the best I've ever seen. Chad Lavalais was just a man beast and lived in the backfield. Marcus Spears and Marquis Hill was bookends and Kyle Williams was a savage as well. Kinda hard to top that d-line imo.

I agree. DL used to make games more fun to watch. It’s been years since we had guys who would blow up an OL and get a sack or stop behind the line on a regular basis. Hopefully this is the year to bring it back. I feel the secondary is gonna need the front 4 to be disruptive so they aren’t out there too long on a given play.

Hopefully the DL can get consistent pressure on the QB to help the secondary. The secondary is one of my biggest concerns this year. Hopefully, it’s unfounded concerns.
