I think he is partially right. He says fans should not worry. With this offense LSU needs more depth. Excellent analysis. Says LSU is definitely a playoff contender.

LSU fans have nothing to do the football teams offense or defense.

Makes the other team air it out more and gives the defense less of a break. The talent on our mettiburger years weren't worse, but if you look at the stats they were. Moffit needs to change it up to keep up

Yet LSU was able to be dominant on defense with a stagnant offense.

What is the difference in going 3 and out resulting in a punt and going 3 and out resulting in a score?

If the refs would have called the holding on their left tackle the game wouldn’t have been close

It makes sense now why O is recruiting so many elite dlinemen. We will be rotating a lot of dLinemen in the future to offset this.

The defense can take a step back due to the offense but they can play better than they did Saturday night.

They couldn’t do anything to stop Texas in that second half. I thought for sure 2nd and 24 would eventually lead to a punt. Nope.

It’s the collective over the whole game. Texas ran over 80 plays where in previous years the defense was only asked to defend for 50-60 plays.

The 19 play drive to start the second half changed everything as well. That is a ridiculously long drive and really there is no excuse for it. You have to get them off the field.

We have lost the battle in the trenches the last 7 years. Regardless of the type offense, you have to have a dominant D line. That was a staple under Saban and Miles early years. And its how Clemson and Bama have been dominant.

There was no excuse for not wrapping up on tackles in the 2nd half. None.

Here is the truth. We, as a fan base, can choose to accept it or deny it.

How long your defense is on the field makes a difference. And, there is a tipping point when your defense is on the field so long, that it falls off dramatically.

We saw that on Saturday.

An up tempo offense doesn't necessarily mean a defense can't be effective. If our defense is able to get off the field (we were terrible on 3rd down), it won't make much of a difference.

But, EVERY defense, including Alabama's will crack if on the field for too long.

If our offense decides to outscore teams in a game where our defense is having problems getting off the field...we need to expect that we are going to give up a LOT of yards and a LOT of points.

Aranda might HAVE to get more aggressive to try and get off the field. Giving up a long TD might actually be the better result than giving up a long drive.

LSU has elite talent on defense. It doesn't have elite depth. Until that happens, the defense can be had in games like this. It's the cost of having an offense that tries to score as quickly as it can.

It seems as if Aranda is starting to rely on the offense, or he does not have a 2nd version of his D to offer.

You can not put it on the O to score 45 pts.

Its game 1 where our D had to play with our new O against a strong QB. They will adapt in time.

That's just a lazy analysis. Aranda isn't "relying" on anything. His defense was beaten on Saturday. It was tired and injured.

I think we as fans, and perhaps Aranda, needs to recognize that the best defense with an offense like ours isn't a "stifling defense" but instead one that can make plays that gets the defense off the field (sacks, turnovers).

If we give up 28...but the defense stays fresh for the end of the game...that might give us the best chance of winning games. That first drive of the 2nd half hurt LSU a lot more than giving up a big play would have.

Does he know that Tom Herman has torched Bama in the past? Hell, Bama got in a shootout against Georgia last year in the SEC championship game. The times have changed. And we have changed with it. Good offenses are beating really good defenses. This is the game today in college.
