And if he isn't cutting it, then it becomes an EXCELLENT game to transition the QB over to Nuss.

If we have less than 40 yards passing in the first quarter, we need to do something different.

ETA: LSU Spring Game

JD5 is the same QB now that he was in the spring. Very little improvement. Nuss aint afraid to air it out and because of that, there will be picks. I'd love to see JD in RZ and Nuss the rest of the field

LSU is essentially playing with "house money" all season as expectations are probably as low as they've been in 20 year. No reasonable fan expected or currently expects this team to be in contention for a playoff spot, a SEC West championship, or even a NY6 bowl game. And the HC has explicitly told the QB and OC to be more aggressive in their play/play-calling. Rarely do you hear a HC say he's willing to live with a greater risk of turnovers if it means the QB taking more chances throwing the ball, but that is what BK said this week. I'm not saying Daniels should be completely reckless, but you coach just told everyone he accepts you might throw an INT as a tradeoff for taking more chances. Do it! Give your WR's a shot.

Nuss isn't going in as long as JD is capable of standing. Kelly is all-in on the JD train, regardless of how terrible the passing game is. Which is a shame because passing the ball is supposed to be LSU's bread and butter right now...not QB scrambles.

Kelly has not pulled a struggling QB all year.

Not going to happen. The score can be 21-0 and Daniels has a total of 80 yards passing in the 4th quarter and he will finish the game.

LSU Spring Game

Both QB's give us an edge and should be used. People bash Nuss for his INTs and folks bash JD for lack of passing.

I rewatched the spring game highlights and Nuss needs to be ready when his number is called. I dont see how you can let Jayden keep being gun shy when we have the WRs that we have.

You cannot hide QB deficiencies in the SEC. They will be exposed and exploited

Yeah, we should only make a change if we have 5 yards of passing in a half....

I saw Saban handoff at least 8 straight times up the middle to Toefield once against Miss State to open the game. I bet he average 8+ yards per carry. Why he keep running it? Because it worked. State tightened up their run defense eventually, and we threw it all over the place. I don’t care what plays we run or how many yards passing the QB has as long as we are producing when we need to and winning.

I agree, but we lose this past weekend to a dumpster fire Aubbie without the defense turnovers. Your logic is sound as long as we rack up W's. It's faulty when we lose because our offense is stagnant. Same with Les/JJ/JL.

Huge difference between calling designed runs and the QB scrambling. When most of your total yards come from the latter your offense has a problem. A big problem.

I missed that originally. It is clear that Brennan was the much more polished QB for the passing game. Disappointed that he didn't feel like he was going to be the starter, because I'm pretty sure he would be after what we have witnessed so far this season. He was clearly the better passer.

IF BK sticks with this approach, I can't see how the top receivers are going to continue to choose LSU. Hope I'm wrong, but this is an ugly pass offense in the day and time that Passing offenses rule the game, in college and pro. I don't want LSU to become GaTech.

I am not so worried about that. Louisiana produces great receivers every year, and they don't worry about the senior QB who will only be on the roster at most one more season. Even Les recruited great receivers, and that cat produced bad offenses almost every year for a decade.

I just hate to waste any given year because we have a QB who can't or won't throw the ball. We have NFL caliber receivers, very good running backs, and an offensive line that is playing great and will improve as the season moves on. Backing that up is a defense that is probably top 10 in the country. What a shame to waste it for a single season because the QB won't throw.

Could easily see that happening with Dumbrock and Kelly even if we are down 21 - 0.

This. Based on spring game coverage, Nuss can make all the passes that we need to make a good run this year.

He may have learned more from Steve E and Brady than Dumbrock knows too.

Man, JD looks the exact same as he’ did back then… they even working with him anymore? How do you look the same as you did after being 3 weeks in to a new system, 6 months later?
