I think there may be some great gamesmanship by A&M in all this. Regrettably, we do not have the wits or commitment to win in order to even play the game.
A&M senses the disarray and disaffection in LSU football and is going for the jugular.
Worse case, they lose Aranda at 3 million, which probably means LSU will have to pay him at least 2.5.
But there's a reasonably good chance LSU is so dysfunctional, we do not respond at all. And we lose the guy who is by far our best coach. Painful to watch...

No doubt. A&M is sticking it in and breaking it off in LSU. All orchestrated by an LSU alum.

Maybe it looks like that right now but how will it look, oh lets say 3 or 4 years from now when Jimbo & Co fail terribly at A&M. That will be a glorious melt!

Either way how you slice it up it not a good look. I mean paying out the arse for college coaches and getting into bidding wars at this price. Can anything be done, nope it is the way of the world right now.

Aranda is better at his job than Orgeron.

So LSU is either forced to give O a raise- not going to happen or live with this terrible perception that others will use against us negatively in recruiting.

O has no leverage for a raise, none. No other school would hire him right now. He walks, LSU just makes Aranda HC (and a lot of the fanbase happy)

Can you imagine having to pay Jimbo and his staff's buyout if their experiment goes south in a couple years? And on top of buying out another coach and his inflated salary. If A&M wants to set the salary market this high, they need to be prepared for every coach from here on out expecting the money they're paying now. It's a bold move but a very juvenile move.

Aggies have 10 B endowment.
Double O salary and cut his years in half

What if A&M gets stuck with Aranda for $3M?

That’d be a pretty bad deal for those guys.

We shouldn't have beatem A&M so bad. They have more money than we do and can hire our best coaches.

Agreed. It's pretty funny in a perverse way. Really highlights the band of merry idiots that are running the show at LSU.

This is the mentality that prevailed at LSU prior to hiring Saban. Apparently it again dominates at LSU.

I said it on 1/1. I’m no genius and figured this would happen. That should tell you everything you need to know about how dumb Alleva and Co are.

The size of their endowment illustrates the leve of alumni support.

LSU did not nearly double the salaries of everyone on staff when they hired Saban. What A&M is doing is unprecedented. Furthermore, LSU did not pay Saban an exorbitant salary until after he won a national title.

No way F King and Alleva would get into a bidding war with a deep pocket big spender like aTm to keep Aranda. Remember the search for hc in 2016 with Herm. Alleva chickened out against bidding for Herm's service with UT. If the $3 mil offer is true then Aranda is gone.

bullshite. When he was hired, it was considered by many to be exorbitant.

Look, it's OK. Complacency is comfortable. Of course A&M is taking a risk. It may not work out. It may fail. You're just the type that doesn't like to take that risk. I admire them for it.

A&M swiping LSU DCs hasn't really worked out all that well for them.
