This was said by Paul before the season. After having fall ball and preseason camp, how can he miscalculate his pitching depth and talent so much? Going into the final month of the season he has TWO pitchers that anyone has confidence in.

The staff overall is pretty garbage.

However, the starting rotation of Hill, Marceaux, and Labas would have been LSU's best 1-2-3 in a long time if Hill had lived up to his potential and also not gotten hurt.

We always seem to have a very good 1-2 punch, but seem to lack a 3rd starter over the years.

Maybe he was trying to one up Orgeron for dumb off season quotes.

Things would be very different if we had Beck & Hill

Either the incoming freshmen aren’t who they thought (Cain) or they are not being properly developed (Dunn)

Seems like we have these issues year after year (CPM)

I understand Hill had tons of potential (which we never saw consistently) but if Mathew Beck is the only difference between this current staff and the deepest staff of Paul’s coaching career, then Mathew Beck needs to be drafted first overall.

Hill easily could of lived up to his hype as the season progressed. Unfortunately injuries happen. Still where’s the pen? You don’t have a reliable closer and 3 guys you trust?

I've been thinking about this proclamation since SEC play started. Epic fail from PM. I'm not even sure if Hill would have rounded into expected starter form without the injury.

Beck was the leader of the team, I think once he was injured that was lost
He could have gotten us through some innings but more importantly I think we lost his leadership role

ETA
Maybe Fontenot steps up to fill that role

Between this, Hellmers at 3b, and the constant shuffling of players, I’m wondering if Paul was awake during the practices

Doesn’t matter he never knows when to pull a pitcher. 58 pitches in under 3 innings. He’s an imbecile

Between pawls pitching quotes and Os defense quotes from last year I don't know which one is worse

Keep in mind he saw those pitchers against our strikeout friendly hitters in practice. I would have thought our pitching staff was great too.

Super agree and what the frick is LSU doing to counter that?

Nothing.

We all know what’s up.
