Things to Love about LSU Baseball and Rest of Year

First off, forget 2020's season and look at 2019 for a second.
We lost LEADERS and/or guys with a ton of experience!
Losses: Antoine Duplantis, Josh Smith, Zach Watson, Saul Garza, Zach Hess, Todd Peterson, Cole Henry, Daniel Cabrera
Fast forward to 2021 and look at our lineup. For example, look at who has the most starts this season and how much experience they have facing SEC pitching.
Starts this year (Games Started prior to this season)
Dylan Crews: 29 (0)
Tre Morgan: 29 (0)
Jordan Thompson: 27 (0)
Zach Arnold: 18 (0)
Cade Beloso: 25 (75)
Gavin Dugas: 29 (17)
Cade Doughty: 24 (16)
Alex Milazzo: 19 (13)
Now look at who we have played so far...
#4 Miss State, #5 Tennessee, #1 Vandy
WELCOME TO THE SEC FELLAS!
That said, look at how incredible Dylan Crews and Tre Morgan have been in 2021
Dylan Crews Stats (National Ranking, SEC Ranking)
Batting Avg: 0.366 (133rd, 5th)
On-Base Pct: 0.474 (120th, 6th)
Hits: 41 (14th, 2nd)
Runs: 30 (15th, 4th)
Home Runs: 8 (34th, 8th)
Total Bases: 72 (17th, 4th)
Walks: 21 (38th, 6th)
Stolen Bases: 7 (141st, 9th)
Tre Morgan Stats (National Ranking, SEC Ranking)
Doubles: 9 (52nd, 5th)
Triples: 3 (7th, 2nd)
Hits: 34 (108th, 15th)
Runs: 31 (14th, 3rd)
Hit By Pitch: 11 (9th, 1st)
Stolen Bases: 8 (94th, 6th)
Finally...
We are 1-8 in SEC play right now. Let's see what a believable final six series could go for us.
Remaining SEC schedule
@ Kentucky (Sweep if we come out fighting for it to turn it around) 3 Wins (4-8)
vs #12 South Carolina (At home, coming off sweep, can win series) 2 Wins (6-9)
@ #3 Ole Miss (Momentum carries us into Ole Miss for a shocking series win) 2 Wins (8-10)
vs #2 Arkansas (Come home to handle business but we lose this series) 1 Win (9-12)
@ Auburn 2 Wins (11-13)
vs Alabama (Sweep)(14-13)
@ Texas A&M (Knowing what is on the line, who knows what could happen. We have gone into places like Miss State and Auburn, when they were ranked highly, and swept them to end season) 3 Wins (17-13)
Sounds crazy, and I just might be, but it starts this weekend. There is no more tomorrows, it all starts Friday night

This could have been your entire thread but hey let’s hope you are right.

I think 14 SEC wins is even a lofty goal, but that might get us to a road regional with a few wins in the SECT.
Kentucky - 2 wins would be huge to get the ball rolling
South Carolina - another 2 wins, at home, would be possible with some momentum from Lexington
Ole Miss - no matter how you slice it, 1 win here will be tough
Arkansas - again, 1 win will be tough
Auburn - get 2 on the road
Bama - must sweep this one at home
A&M - get 2 at College Station for some momentum heading to Hoover
I'm dreaming.

If this team starts mashing SEC pitchers like they do mid-week guys, LSU would be a juggernaut.
But more realistically, they’re hoping for a 3-seed and a predetermined NCAA host site. I can almost hear the #1 & #2 seeds crying.

Can we find a Sunday guy before we start talking sec sweeps?

I do agree with Tad in the sense that this team is young and has not reached its full potential yet. Hell, Mainieri hasn't even decided who the starters are yet.
Getting Gio back could be a boost offensively and defensively. Arnold at 2B could be a boost to the offense and hopefully someone steps up as DH.
Losing Hill was a big blow but these young pitchers will continue to improve and hopefully we get Beck back at some point.
I still have high hopes for this season as well.

You do realize that this is college baseball and this happens to every team every year?

I'm only going to say this once. LSU must win 2 this weekend in Kentucky. If not the season is going to completely unravel on this team.

I think what you are trying to say is the recruiting hasn’t been good

This team will be better in May than it was in March. But, to think, at 1-8, that we can get to 14 SEC wins is really dreaming big.
We are not going to sweep any team left on our schedule. IF we can go 2/3 versus alabama, carolina, and Auburn, that brings us to 7 wins. IF we can win one versus UK, Ole Miss, and Arkansas, we'd be at 10 SEC wins. Who knows what will happen in Collie Station, but 12 SEC wins seems the absolute best we can do this season UNLESS some other team's pitching collapses vs us.

I'm going to take it game by game and enjoy it.
