...until there is. And you won’t know until you press the NCAA office to explain these discrepancies. Player conduct is a different beast than rules governing field of play. Anyone who acts like this is impossible is selling you a crock of shite.

Rules are interpreted.

Precedent matters but there is a subjective nature to all of this. And claiming that this is impossible is fricking stupid. Improbable? Yeah, sure.

Impossible? No.

Question... is there a rule that specifically states there’s no appeal... or is there no EXISTING mechanism for appeal?

Unless a rule specifically states otherwise, appeal anyhow.

It’s a mechanistic thing. There is always a valve to appeal conduct via certain sets of circumstance when it’s NCAA rulebook.

YES!!! Then you shift the burden oproof squarely on the SEC office and make them explain the indefensible especially in light of the unfalgged actions of BAMA players the last two games.

I still say CBS can press SEC to review it. LSU cannot appeal it. That does not say that the SEC cant look on their own.

It there is the appearance of impropriety then the truth does not matter. In this case this game will be an asterick game unless LSU just kicks their arse.

It’s unlikely but this might just have the right amount of national attention to happen. All-American suspended for the biggest game of the season in a game with national championship implications.

My question is why wouldn't they allow themselves further examination to get it right? Why would they make such a strong, unwavering stance if its clearly incorrect?

It makes them look like a bunch of stubborn fools who are willing to tarnish the game because, well, "WE SAID SO!"

If the rule is intended to get it right, why not make sure it's right?

SEC is going to protect its officials. The NCAA has no such obligations to this set of fricking dolts. Alleva may be working the SEC, and he should. But the NCAA is, frankly, the entity with the power here.

This will not get overturned. Melt away, the call will stand. If White’s helmet touched Fitz’s helmet at any point, they can justify it as targeting.

What pisses me off is the inconsistency. We had a defenseless receiver in the end zone get hit so hard during a catch he couldn’t get up but that went without a call. Just show consistency.

Alleva is fighting it. Maybe they can push it to a different game or something. Doubtful.

Even if he succeeds refs will still screw us all game.

BS PI to get their receivers open. BS holding to keep our o line from protecting the QB. And nothing on them unless its inconsequential.

The call may well not be overturned, but that doesn’t mean that there is no value in pressing the matter as far as you can push it. Frankly, I don’t think your certainty is warranted at this point. It’s been less than 24 hours and the negative reaction has been impressive. Definitely improbable, still, but I am hesitant say it’s a done deal.

Agree we should raise a huge fuss about this call and the other missed calls that were much more in line with BS targeting rule. I just have absolutely zero faith this will get overturned.

Has a targeting and subsequent suspension ever been overturned after the game finished? I just don’t see this being the first ever. Call stands, White won’t play a down in the first half against Bama. I really hope I’m wrong.

I can’t recall one. The only upshot here is that this could be the first call that gets overturned, which paves the way for a secondary, postgame review regarding eject-able offenses.

Again, likely? No. But the cries of people who were already complaining about the rule prior to this game has reached fever-pitch level. This really could be the case that paves the way for a change. Basically, that’s the only conceivable route for overturning the precedent.

Stranger things have happened.
