There’s more to being an AD then hiring coachesPosted by LSUTigers_00 on 1/9/21 at 10:48 am

Scott Woodward , while his record in hiring coaches is strong for the most part, you have to commend him for his other strengths:
-his fundraising acumen is really good, which the previous regime sucked at; this is where his interpersonal relationships he can build with donors comes into play—that was a weakness under Alleva
from his profile:
-he has connections at the NCAA, no less the president of the whole damn thing, which means a lot when it comes to the protection of the programs
-comparatively, we’ve seen him be able to keep possible hiring in house and not leak unnecessary garbage to the media
-again, his hiring has been pretty strong if you look purely at the success of the coaches he hired at the time (Chris Peterson, Buzz Williams, and Jimbo Fisher)

from his profile:

Woodward has demonstrated a remarkable ability to galvanize fans and supporters around visionary fundraising goals. Those improvements included a $28.6 million softball facility and $39.8 million for a new outdoor track and field stadium at Texas A&M. Fundraising set all-time records under Woodward's leadership at Washington and improvements included a $280 million renovation of Husky Stadium.

Your accomplishments are duly noted, Scott

I’m still pro-SW, he’s had a lot to deal with in the short 18 months he’s been here, but I think some criticism is warranted.
That said I’m MUCH more confident in his leadership than what we’d get from any other AD we’ve had here since I’ve been alive. And yes that includes Skip

Head coaches hire assistants, not AD's. They sign off on their contracts.

Not with Pelini. That was Scott's boy from the start.

Pelini was def a SW hire
Turns out being the AD of the school you’re a fan of can cloud your judgment if you’re not careful.

When your HC has never been a Coordinator, he needs all the help he can get, especially with his track record of hiring Assistants.

quote:LOL the O pumpers have really stuck to this narrative.
Not with Pelini. That was Scott's boy from the start.
O says he wants to switch to an “ATTACKING style 4-3 defense” when Aranda left and yet when the hire turns out to be a pile of shite he has nothing to do with it?? The stuff that some of you come up with...

You can’t even properly use “than” and “then” dude. Stop trying to force words like “acumen”, “interpersonal”, and “comparatively”. No one’s gonna think you are smarter.

Not to mention trying to stick a god damn semi-colon in for no reason and shortly after using “comes” when you should’ve used “come”.
