There were signs of offensive tampering well before we lost to Troy.

First of all, the offense we saw against BYU was not the Matt Canada offense we saw all over Youtube. This was a max-protect version. He may have been shifting people around pre-snap, but he still had a TE and FB on the field at the same time, and they were generally blocking.

After the State loss, O said something in his presser that most people missed. He said we will continue to keep 6-7 guys in protection. Obviously, he is paranoid about the OL not being able to block.

None of that is what Canada is about. He likes to spread defenders out, and it has generally worked everywhere he has been. It simplifies things for the line and creates running lanes for the back. 8 man fronts aren't just scary to quarterbacks. Imagine you're a freshman OG and you line up and have 3 guys in your lane, and they're moving around, and you have to decide which one to block. A young guy will get it wrong more times than not. But if you spread the field and reduce the number of guys this freshman has to block, it makes it easier for him.

I think (and this is my opinion) that this is the main source of tension between O and Canada.

Well, Orgeron has gotten at least one thing right then.

I know right. What happened to throwing to the TE and RB that I saw at Pitt and NC State. I find it hard to believe Matt Canada just totally forgot how to coach since his arrival at LSU.

O was correct OLINE not capable of playing straight up against SEC opponents. RClark also right that the ultra finesse offense is not suited to the talent on hand. It will play itself out in recruiting.

I think people are supporting the team by showing how inept the head coach and AD are at their jobs. True LSU fans fight for university first, not the personality that runs the respective position.

That actually seems like a reasonable fear in retrospect doesnt it?

I'd argue Canada's Pitt team was severely out-manned (talent wise) when they beat Clemson.

Don't tell me our subpar offensive linemen are the reason we lost to Troy. If Canada isn't able to use his entire playbook that is a problem.

I don't know if it is because O is meddling or if our players don't have the mental capacity of the Pitt players to learn the playbook but something needs to change.

Just ignore him. Like many of the O pumpers, his post history is nothing but barely literate ad hominem attacks.

Not defending Orgeron here, but have we not had problems with our receivers running routes since Anthony Jennings was the QB 4 years ago? The only time in the last 3-4 years that I have seen effective receiver play was in the A&M game and since A&M does not have a competent defense that does not say much

Actually this year, I see a little bit better receiver play especially as it applies to deeper routes. The short and intermediate ones are still a problem overall.

SFP already posted something along these lines today:

O does not understand why Canada's offense is supposed to work. He is constantly asked by Alleva, the media, et al to explain the struggles of the team. Since he lacks a fundamental understanding of the offense, he can't provide an explanation. So he has Canada limit his offense to the concepts the he (O) understands and is able to explain. Handcuffing Canada's offense is a bad move for many reasons.

He said straight up that almost all of his problems at Ole Miss were because he was a control freak and didn't know how to delegate authority, and he promised to not make those same mistakes at LSU. First sign of shite going wrong, he puts his hand in the offense and we get shut out for a half by fricking Troy.

So yea, he CAN put input in his team, but he's gonna end up dealing with threads like this. Suck it up you bitch arse "snowflake"
