The Wade hate was so predictable...

I'll never understand where the expectations came from. I don't think this team finishes last, but it won't be far from it. You don't go from historically bad to tournament team with one solid recruiting class and some transfers from schools like North Texas, Southern Utah, and some JC.

This year is about growth, we as fans don't judge success by the scoreboard, because this team will be on the wrong end more than we would like. Example being, this team will likely find themselves struggling with just being out talented. Like against Farrell the other night, nobody was staying in front of that guy. But in circumstances like that, as the season goes on, we judge and grade this team by the things they can control, like are they in position to stop the dribble drive once the initial defender is beat, or in position to rotate and close out on shooters. So far they have been slow, but it's something to watch as the season goes on.

One last thing, anyone who says this looks like a Johnny Jones coached team is a moron. This team may not be very good, but anyone who knows the game can tell they are much better prepared physically, better coached, and actually play for Will Wade.

Not sure who is hating on Wade? Most comments/threads have been positive as even the dumbest of fans realize this is a rebuilding process.

Half of our fans are semi-retarded. The majority of tRant are these fans. They don’t understand rebuilding, and they have no idea how to evaluate a coach except by win-loss record. It’s so clear and obvious how Will Wade is already improving this program. These idiots just won’t be able to see it

The last two games were greatly affected by Sampson's absence. As a vital piece for LSU this year, he is a senior, a leader, and a disrupter on defense.

I've said this all along. It pertains to every sport - not necessarily OT Lounge though.

honestly this season should have zero expectations. Yea it's frustrating to watch at times but he put this team together very last minute and it's no way full of "his guys" yet.

We shouldn't care about results, we should only really care about effort/toughness/etc.

I've seen lack of effort at times and other times just mental errors. I can take mental errors, but the lack of effort pisses me off.

I'm excited for years 2-3 when Wade will have a talent infusion and will have had time to get his system really cranking.

No one hates Wade. And no one is surprised LSU lost to two NCAAT teams. However, the last two games were somewhat disappointing. Not because they lost. But because the issues they had were virtually the exact same problems they had last season. LSU simply did not guard anyone vs. ND and Marquette. If nothing else, LSU has enough athletes that they should be at least an aveage defensive team. It would be one thing if opponents were taking advantage of their lack of talent in the front court. But they weren't. ND and MU absolutely killed LSU on the perimeter. ND was able to drive inside, collapse the defense and find wide open shooters whenever they wanted. THAT was LSU's biggest defensive issue under Jones...not just last year, but every season. After the Michigan game LSU failed to play with any effort on defense. That was disappointing and surprising considering how much emphasis Wade claims he puts on that side of the ball. You don't have to be supremely talented to play with great effort. LSU simply didn't. They didn't close out to shooters hard nor did they really show great effot trying to recover off of ball screens (particularly vs. Marquiette)

On offense things became VERY stagnant and essentially relied on Waters making plays while the others stood and watched. That was another HUGE issue for Jones's. They scored, but they weren't efficient. And if the opponent was shooting it somewhat well, the game was over.

Right now LSU is ranked dead-last in SEC in defensive efficiency. It's still early, but they are ranked over 100 spots behind the 2nd worst defensive team in the SEC (Ole Miss). Losing in a rebuilding year is not a sin (particularly against two good teams). But losing because of the EXACT SAME issues that plagued you last season, with a new staff, is dissapointing.

I don't think LSU will finish last in the SEC either. But if they continue to defend like they are now they will. LSU is on pace to be worse defensively than they were last season.

In a hypothetical way...

Certainly you could, depending on how solid that recruiting class and transfers were. Great transfer players could be at those schools listed for all kinds of different reasons.

So you expect the defense just to be phenomenal in just 6 months of Wade being here? That's bad on your part if you think that.
You can tell the kids are playing with effort and won't give up. They're simply just not as talented as we need to be to compete with these kinds of teams

Agreed

And to the OP, it’s typical LSU catastrophe syndrome, NOT true hate for Wade. Someone would have to be full retard to hate at Wade at this time.

The only ones that are hating on Wade are the JJ lovers and apologists. They were waiting and ready to pounce like a Tiger in the tall grass.

I don't think I said I thought they would be "phenomenal" on defense. But I don't think it was unreasonable to think they would be improved from last years historically bad group. Right now, OBJECTIVELY, they are on pace to be worse than that group. Certainly, I think they can and WILL improve. But it is worrisome that Wade placed so much emphasis on defense and effort, and those were the two aspects they really struggled in vs. ND and MU. It's disappointing because they DID play with so much energy and effort vs. Michigan

FTR, I thought they would finish somewhere between 10-14 in the SEC and win somewhere between 5-8 conf games. So my expectations aren't very high. But I did think there would be improvement from the issues that plagued them under Jones, particularly on defense. Right now, that ain't happening. That's not so say it won't eventually. In fact, I think it will. But objectively speaking, there are some big time issues on defense that we thought would be improved.
