The ultimate blame belongs on the SEC Commissioner.

That is, if you believe what Alleva said in this interview.
LINK
If you believe this story, it was the SEC Commissioner who ultimately decided to postpone the game, not Foley. Well, the (if this story is accurate) earlier in the week when Foley was insisting the game could be played on Saturday in Gainesville with no problem and was not willing to discuss any options, the commissioner could have stepped in and made the decision at that point in time and made the decision to either move the game or play it later (Sunday or Monday).
I have a feeling the SEC office is now begging, pleading, wishing, hoping and doing everything but openly cheering for UF and LSU to lose a couple of regular season games so they will be eliminated from SECCG possibilities.

Sankey is such a feckless milquetoast leader. As soon as Foley insisted the game would be played he should have demanded a plan B or forfeit the game.
Foley saying traveling 150 people on a day and a half notice is hard - I agree. That's why you begin making plans for it earlier just in case.

It's his fault for the simple fact the he had override power. He should have given a Wednesday noon deadline for a relocation plan and he didn't. He should be fired whether this game gets played or not. He should be fired! UForfeit and Foley are garbage, but Sankey is the one who could have prevented this cluster frick from happenening. Instead, he helped them run out the clock, which makes me think that he's more dirty than ignorant.

Scott Long's article today nails it. His idea, consider only games played in divisional play this year to determine who goes to Atlanta.

Sankey is incompetent or biased. My guess is both.
Alleva has been at LSU long enough to know about hurricanes, so he is either weak, negligent or incompetent, or all three - because he did no preemptive work on establishing any contingencies or understandings with UF or the SEC, ahead of the storm. And since the debacle happened, there has been no constant demand to either "play or Forfeit" coming from his office.

Yeah, another thing we need to watch is the officiating in our games going forward. The main office is actively rooting for LSU to lose and will use whatever power they have to make that happen. Coach Oeaux needs to tell his team that every week!

Why the fingerpointing at Aleva in this case? The SEC knows the very real possibilities of such a scenario taking place and they did nothing. Pin the tail on the right donkey.

We already get screwed everytime The Birmingham office decides anything!

If Alleva feels there is "blame", he should have made that clear. He didn't. Far from it. Instead he proclaimed "you have to respect their decision."

Cause that's what the cool kids are doing.
Never mind the fact that it was Florida's call because it's their home game or that Foley has the most power of any sec AD other than Bama

quote:Because he is LSU's AD. And is playing the cya game by whining about what he offered and UF rejected, after the fact. Instead of (ideally) looking at the contingencies well ahead of the storm, or since the debacle, insisting publically the SEC dictate non-negotiable "play or Forfeit" conditions.
Why the finger pointing at Alleva...?

That's what I don't understand. We all know what the rules say about getting to Atlanta. But considering this happened, can't a temporary addendum rule be made for just this season?
Who or what would be stopping that?

Dude stop. You are pathetic, and clueless. You have no idea what has really happened.

And if you don't think Bug Eyes in the replay booth is going to make damn sure of this, I have some oceanfront property in Kansas for sale.

I have been hard on Alleva and I think someone with a little more pull down here could have maybe swayed the league other than getting a "postponed" catchall. That being said, I believe him over anything the spineless SEC office has put out.
I still think JA needs to be on the phone with all the other AD's at other SEC schools and taking the "we're sick of this shite" approach.

I know I am being an a-hole, but I would like to see Matthew loop back around and threaten Gainesville for next Saturday's game against Missouri. I bet Florida would find a way to play that game.
