Ryan Theriot had nothing to do with this. That’s stupid.

No, the OP is right. This team has looked different since that rant. I think they were aware of it and it woke them up. I think the players took it personal and it showed them that CPM isn't that type of leader. Look how Beck wouldn't give CPM the ball when he was being pulled off the mound. HE wanted to give it to Hess, himself. And I can't remember the exact situation but there was another one before that in another game when somebody had a big hit and all the players ran out the dug out to meet the run at home plate and CPM was out there trying to push them back into the dugout and the players just pushed past and ignored him and he went and sulked in the corner.

I've always defended CPM but I think it showed his weakness and that's being an emotional leader. I know y'all don't want to hear this but AC brought that to the table and it's been missing in the coaching staff since he left. Look what he was able to do with MSU when they had all those injuries that year and were pitching people off the street.

I'm wondering if CPM hiring these former players from the 09 team was a way to try to capture some excitement in the coaching staff that would translate to the players.

Those pitchers obviously HATE pulmonary.

When Moffitt got pulled yesterday I thought he was gonna smoke him.

They got run out of the stadium the games following the rant. It’s funny how playing better and winning leads to more emotion and fire.

It still hurt at the time. Then they took it like a man and got better.

You’ll understand after puberty.

I don't know how they feel about him, but when he pulled Moffitt so early with a five run lead, as if it were a normal game where we WEREN'T almost out of available pitchers, I was about ready to smoke him, too.

Even though things worked out better than I, or anyone expected, with the run rule saving us two innings, I still thought that was way too quick of a hook.

Moffitt was done.

Dude just walked 2 guys btb in the 3rd inning after being handed a 5 run lead. At that point, he just needed to pound the strike zone and he couldn’t do that.

I believe he threw more balls than strikes last night.

ETA: Yep. 23 balls, 21 strikes. He couldn’t afford to leave him in.

And then George came in and was having all sorts of trouble throwing strikes right out of the gate. When you get to the bottom of your pitching barrel like this, control is going to come and go. He let George work his way out of it, and he did fine after the rough start. Moffitt deserved the same chance, imo, and the team could have benefited from getting more innings out of him, but Mainieri yanked him.

Moffit, George and Costello each going around 2 innings each was perfect.

CPM needed to let each guy throw in the tourney to see what they can give us moving forward.

Btw.. Is that SO number accurate for George?

It worked out ok, but no one had a clue that we'd run rule them, so that was just fortunate for Mainieri
and the team, that we didn't have to go any deeper into the pen. If he could have gotten another two innings out of Moffitt (he went 5, once this year),
then we could have had Costello available today, which would have been nice.

I just don't think the normal rules of "pull the guy as soon as he starts to look shaky" apply when you are literally running out of pitchers. He had every reason to pull George for the same reason he pulled Moffit, yet it's like it suddenly dawned on him that he can't exactly afford to NOT let him try to figure it out. And, wouldn't you know it, George did figure it out.

If you're referring to what the ESPN guys said on air, which I think they said 49 strikeouts, then no,
it was way off. I wasn't sure if I misunderstood them or not. He has 31 strikeouts in about 26 innings now.

They lost the first two games after that rant, and they gave up double-digit runs in both of those losses.

BS! BS! Anyone who believes that proves the correlation of the low education level of Louisiana residents.
Why not give credit to PM for pulling Moffitt at the right time. The trip to the mound by Dunn to talk to George. The juggling of the inup by PM. Were those decisions important?
Why not be happy and enjoy the moment. Instead you can continue being miserable pricks who continue to push your misery to to other fans.

Are you under the impression the LSU players listened to or even care what some guy who played at LSU when they were in diapers or before they were even born says? I'm not.
