Should it have been targeting???

I mean it woulda been a weak call and glad it wasn’t...but def was contact to head or neck area

IMO it needs to be considered as bad for punishment as targeting. He nearly ripped his head off. A facemask that bad should be auto ejection akin to fighting. But following the rules, no it's not targeting or anything other than 15 yd personal foul.

Yeah I don't know how that doesn't warrant ejection. Nearly breaking someone's neck intentionally is just as egregious as targeting.

We should have gotten one free late hit to make up for it.

another bad part, where the ball was placed LSU actually only got half a yard, half the distance

It wasn’t targeting by the rule. However it looked like he intentionally wrapped his arms around Greedy’s head and ripped his helmet off.

They called targeting on FSU player earlier in the day for a lot less. Fore arm to the head.

While on the subject of bad calls, there was a classic horse collar in the 4the quarter that was not called. I forget the running back that was horse collared but it was on a critical drive and LSU could have benefited from the 15 yards.

I don't think you can have "targeting" on a player who is a deemed a runner. Targeting exists for defenseless players. But I may be totally wrong about that.

Doesn't matter if you are runner or not targeting has been called on people just throwing blocks

I thought the same thing when it happened......We protect the QB and WR but lack in protecting the defensive player like that of Greedy!

It was definitely intentional. The broadcast didn’t make a big deal out of it which surprised me.

If Greedy did that to the qb, it would be discussed as naseum on every outlet.

Every bit as, if not more, dirty than most of the targeting I see.

Actually, this is correct. I'm not sure why people can't understand this. Helmet to helmet is only considered targeting if the player is defenseless unless the defender uses the crown of the helmet, but it has to be very delibrate.
