Urban Myer left the SEC to keep from having to compete with Saban. Saban got him again. I do not like either but Saban, at least, has courage. This is hilarious!

ALSO, two SEC teams being in the top and the Big 10 champ being left out in the cold means it will not be long until they expand it to 8 teams. ONE additional week of play and you have a legitimate 8 team playoff. This will make the decisions easier. It takes pressure off of the committee. I think this helps LSU...

And then people will will bitch about how #9 and 10 didn’t make playoffs. Doesn’t matter how big you expand it. Someone is left out.

This is definitely coming. the P5 conference winners and three at-large teams. Just a matter of time.

Great point. Big 10 commissioner is going to reek havoc on the committee.
Of course he is partially responsible for the current state of affairs. Which is also funny.

The arguments will have far less validity, though. No conference champions and undefeateds left out.

well there will always be some of that as long as its about wins and losses rather then winning your conference

if you do this:

the power 5 conference winners get in, then at the same time conference games are being played you have the best top 6 ranked non conference teams play each other to select the 3 other teams who go to playoffs.

that sends you to a 8 team playoff and is the most fair way to go.

it wont stop all the bitching but it will stop the popularity contest winners getting in over better teams like OS last year and bama did this year

Pac-12 champs left out as well. I'm fine with the best four teams getting a shot regardless of conference and their place within that conference.

Bama did not make it to the SEC championship game but they are better than any team in the Big-10 or Pac-12

If conference championship games are irrelevant now, then why have them? I hate OSU as much as the next guy, but they played an extra game while Bama sat at home and rested. It’s not fair that some teams run the risk of being eliminated by playing an extra game and certain others don’t.

People who keep saying this are missing this point. The further and further you get from the top ranked teams, the value of your argument over which teams deserve to get in over others gets exponentially lower.

In other words people give fewer and fewer fricks as you get lower in the rankings. You see this in basketball where like a billion teams get in

He left because he had an affair with a co Ed. And faked a heart attack. He wasn’t scared of ahit. Moron.

He was scared when he beat saban in 08? Played him again in 09. Then beat him in playoffs

Agree that this year's rankings will encourage moving to an 8 team playoff. However it will be harder to choose between numbers 8 and 9 than between 4 and 5.

As far as this year's selection goes Bama was clearly a better team on the field than the OSU. I feel good that Bama's victory over Number 16 put them in. :

8 would be perfect

you take all conference champs and then add a good bama team in there

Actually, it'll be way easier to swallow than just four teams. The way Auburn played a brutal schedule this year, they deserve another shot. That's a legit team that had way more of a test than any other team this year. Even though I stated earlier how Ohio St got beat by double digits twice this year (one a 30 pointer to an unranked team), they are still a legit team that could compete with anybody in the top 10. Wisconsin should get a shot being a 1 loss power 5 team, and the final spot could be up for debate.

Not many are going to go crazy if USC gets in over UCF. TCU loses 3 times, Miami loses twice, and neither play close to the schedule of Auburn. USC wins the conference championship at 11-2, so no big deal.

Conference championships are not irrelevant. Only the PAC12 and Big10 are irrelevant because both of them are noticeably a cut below the ACC, Big8 and SEC.

No it won’t. Anyone who thinks that all problems go away with 8 teams is blind. If anything it will get more muffled up more because you are dealing with non power 5 teams, more losses, more bad losses, etc. Its going to get exponentially worse.

But this is what ESPN has always wanted. A bigger field for more money. That’s all that matters.

I hope so. My only fear is that this makes just too much sense for the ncaa to get right.

You don’t think trying to raise a family in that redneck shithole Gainesville had anything to do with it?

And how do you explain Meyer’s team skulldragging Little Nicky’s team last time they met?
