I'm not sure what the root of people hate for him is.

I look at what he's done here. Our athletic program is profitable.

Our athletic program is pretty darn good. football is elite, baseball is elite, track is elite, basketball has improved and looking to be on the rise, womens basketball is improved and a pretty good program, womens softball is improved and a pretty good program.

The only thing I can think of is bama's favor from the s.e.c. office. However, If you think he's bad for it, then, you must think J. Foley is bad too.

He's considered probably the top a.d. in the s.e.c. and he can't get the s.e.c. office to get rid of lsu as a permanent opponent, nor can he get the s.e.c. to give U.G.A. a tougher s.e.c. sched.

so what is the real issue with him? is it you just don't like him for the sake of not liking him or is there some solid reason based on job performance?

The "national search" that landed Dale Brown's hand-picked former assistant. With hindsight, that may be a successful hire. But that had to potential to blow up in his face.

this goes for every hire ever made by an A.D.

Our athletic department has so much excess money they give millions to the academic side. Our football program is a beast, our baseball is best its ever been this year, our basketball team will be awesome next year, and our womens bball did damage in the tourny with injuries that will be better next year.

T&F is awesome as always too.

Yeah, lets fire the guy.

Come the frick on...

You're saying he got lucky? People always bitch about hires. If it works then the AD deserves the credit as much as he deserves blame if it doesn't. This hire is obviously working. We will be a top 10 talent team next year IMO.

Football just hired Cam Cameron, has won 10 games every year, has 2nd highest grad rates in the SEC to Vandy, and is about to have a legendary recruiting class.

We finished 8th in a conference with one top 25 team. And, we finished .500 in SEC play. It appears that things are going in the right direction. Johnny Jones has a great class coming in this year. Getting JOB back is huge. And, we could very well have a great year next year. But, having one mediocre season with the potential for a bright future doesn't prove whether this hire was good or bad.

On face value and resume wise, hiring Johnny Jones was a pretty mediocre hire. We didn't really go out and grab a proven winner. We didn't get a guy who dominated a smaller conference. We didn't get a guy who had great recruiting classes. We didn't get a guy who made a few runs in post season tourneys. We went and hired a guy because Dale Brown wanted him hired.

Sure, it might work out. But, Joe didn't hire Johnny Jones. He basically laid down and let others make that choice. Whether Johnny Jones works out or not, it was a terrible decision by the AD to let others hire the basketball head coach.

Most of the people I know that want Joe A. fired are also the people that want Miles fired and blame Joe for keeping him around. They know that Miles is untouchable due to his new contract so they now focus their hate toward the guy who gave it to him.

Sometimes the wisest decision is to let someone else make it.

Got and AWESOME one here in his first year and tracking for another.

He brought a shitty NT program to the NCAA tournament twice and left them in vastly better condition then before he got there.

I am not saying he was the best candidate on paper beforehand, but lets not act like we hired a Gene Chizik from Iowa St.

I don't get it either. People are running out of things to complain about.

It's stupid college kids that have no clue what they are talking about and probably didn't grow up listening to the horror stories about this programs history before the nick saban and skip bertman days. They just look for things to complain about and have no grasp on realistic expectations.

Not sure we needed another thread on this, but if you started this thread from mine, I do not hate Joe and I support Les 100%, also, as I said in my post, only recently began to question Joe at all

"Shitty" doesn't do it justice. Anyone who doesn't now realize that Johnny was a great hire is either looking for something to bitch about or has no clue what they're talking about.

In a half-year he proved to be a FAR superior recruiter and X's and O's coach than his predecessor. He LOVES this university and this is his dream job. He's pouring every drop of energy he has into the job and it shows.

What changed?

Was it the football team winning 10 games again? The baseball team off to its best start ever? A basketball program that is on the verge of being a perrenial SEC contender? The softball team having a great year? The track and field team having a great year? Yeah, I totally see where you're coming from.

If he wasn't Dale's assistant and he walks in with that resume, does he even get an interview? That had the potential to be the Mike Archer/Smoke Laval of LSU basketball. Trust me--I'm glad he's not so far.

Who knows/who cares? It was a good hire. Life takes a little luck sometimes and Alleva was the one who pulled the trigger.

The way Aleva handled that Duke rape case deal makes me want to puke. While I would not like to be judged on my worst day, the fact that he was willing to let about 12 to 15 young me a lives get ruined in the name of political correctness is literally sickening.

Okay, that's why your thread backfired. Why question his work now?

Caldwell hire-I was starting to question the hire, but she did an incredible job this season. We'll be one of the early favorites to win the SEC next season

Torina-She's been an absolute dynamite hire from the beginning and already has a top-10 class coming in, along with the nation's best pitcher for 2014.

Jones-Sure it was a "good ol boy" hire, but what is wrong with that? It's starting to show that is exactly what we needed from the beginning; a guy who knows what it takes to revive the basketball program.

Football-elite
Baseball-elite
Track-we don't even have locker rooms for the indoor teams and they're still top-5.
Gymnastics-yeah, let's fire DD Breaux while we're ranked 5th in the country with a really young team. If Alleva had been the AD here in the 90s, do you really think she would have survived this long? hell no. Just look at the swimming and women's tennis coaches. They sucked, so he canned them. Simple as that.
Golf-elite. WInstead was a great hire

Also, many of the same people who love to bitch about our "struggles" in the mid-major sports also don't want a single dime invested in the mid-major programs. Alleva is finally giving these programs the facilities they deserved 10 years ago.

You want to know why FLorida is so far ahead of us in the big picture? Location is nice, but our mid-major facilities suck. He's fixing that.

So yeah, FIRE ALLEVA!!!
