Hannigrif spoke on this last night and he really got me thinking on how much you hear that statement and it’s false. On both offense & defense LSU loses a lot of players:

Guice
Etling
Moore
Williams
Chark
Gage
KJ Malone
Clapp (maybe)
Weathersby (maybe)
Key
Gilmore
LaCouture
Herron
Alexander
Thompson
Tolliver (maybe)

They have a few really good young players but O has to finish strong for the 2018 class. We desperately need a stud RB, in addition to OL, DL, & LB positions.

I still think we have played the most freshman per snap in the league. It's not that we are young, but we have a lot of young guys playing.

Eh I mean you only named about 8 starters. There are 14 other positions on the field that are being filled by freshman/sophomores. Also, a few of those guys have been hurt for a majority of our games this season, causing even more freshman to play and gain much needed experience.

This isn't new. This has been the norm for LSU most years. Not an excuse then, not an excuse now

I wouldn't just call them a "young team", but they are young a some key positions, like O line.

And if Aranda is right with what he said adding shelvin and fehoko to replace some seniors will be an upgrade possibly. We should see an upgrade at
Qb. Arm talent for sure.. Rashard Devin Big Ed fehoko.. that's some beast. This team is Pretty good. just some bad losses early due to key spots being very young and qb play not enough imo. This will be a better team next season but we have a brutal schedule so Idk. 9 wins this and next year is probable

Yes 8 starters is alot it's almost half your starting 22.

LSU only started like 5 true freshmen this season.

Also started or not those guys are depth with experience.

Here is some info from the LSU website:
https://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=211151291

this is about true freshmen and doesn't take into account the redshirt freshmen.

quote:

True Freshmen Continue to Play Big Roles at LSU
* So far this season, 20 true freshmen have played for the Tigers, which is tied for the most in the nation after seven weeks of the season.
quote:

* With Charles' start against BYU, he became the first true freshman to start a season opener on the offensive line since at least World War II.
quote:

* LSU's eight true freshmen starters in 2017 are the most since at least 2005
quote:

* The four true freshmen (Charles, Chaisson, Taylor and Delpit) who started the season opener matched the total number between 2000-16.
quote:

* The four true freshmen starters were the most in the nation to start the 2017 season
quote:

* Against BYU, 17 true freshmen saw action for the most by an LSU team in a season opener since at least 1995.

* The following is a list of true freshmen who have played this season: QB Myles Brennan, TE/F Tory Carter, LB K’Lavon Chaisson, RG Saahdiq Charles, OG Austin Deculus, FS Grant Delpit, RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, DE Neil Farrell Jr., S Todd Harris Jr., OG Ed Ingram, WR Justin Jefferson, CB Jontre Kirklin, WR Racey McMath, WR Mannie Netherly, LB Jacob Phillips, LB Patrick Queen, WR JaCoby Stevens, LB Tyler Taylor, DE Justin Thomas, CB Kary Vincent Jr.

On the 2-deep on both sides of the ball I think they have a combined 11 total seniors. Break down the 2-deeps and count the number of true frosh, redshirt frosh , and true sophomores.

we have a mix of youth and upperclassmen. also at least two of those three "maybe"s" are coming back, which adds a lot to the list

key has Chaisson following him up. obviously everyone's anxious to see how Guice and Williams will be replaced. Brennan has a better arm than Danny, but fml that dud needs to add 25 lbs asap

There is no point in posting depth charts on here most posters are too dumb to realize that the depth chart is the true indicator of how young a team is. I guess they think starters play every play

Out of these, whom will we really miss (considering both their contributions and who's coming back):

Guice, Williams, Key, Gilmore

Guice & Key and maybe Chark are the only ones that won't be replaced by someone with more talent
