The elephant in the room is the offensive line

And apparently the coaches know that they aren't very good. We made no attempt at all to establish the run.

That unit needs some work

I think someone who can play the QB position makes the oline look a lot better last night.

The lack of a run game is definitely concerning.

O line was a mess. No improvement from last year. I thought the run blocking wasn’t awful. Pass protection. Woof. Daniels had very little time when he planted his back foot.

Cain averaged 3.8
Goodwin averaged 2.8

It wasn’t good.

Brad Davis is a bad position coach. We probably need to get a tight end coach that is really a oline coach and let Brad just recruit.

Ed didn’t recruit OL or RB well at all. These are the results, going to take a while for Kelly to clean up the mess.

I was impressed on the goaline. They pushed fsu back. Stacked box and still Cain was getting 3 yards a touch.

This. People are shitting on JD because he never looks past his first look, but the fact of the matter is that as soon as he could turn his head the pocket was collapsing around him or there were ends grabbing his shoelaces.

He just had zero time.

It will take a few years, problem is Kelly knew this and then hired a trash oc that doesn’t fit our current talent and his scheme won’t work with our players. It’s a piss poor job of meshing the talent.

If we had a good young oc we likely play to our talent. Our old arse oc is a one trick pony and we don’t have the ponies he needs for his trick.

Smart coaching schemes to the talent we currently have instead of pulling a les miles and jamming the square shape into the round hole.

LT was playing at Neville HS last year

LG was playing in C-USA

C was playing Tackle

RG had 5 career starts

The 6th guy rotating in was playing in the Southern Athletic Conf last year

There is a world where these guys, individually, are solid players. It’s hard to judge after 1 game what they will be as a unit

Problem is knowing all of that about them and then running a cam Cameron slow developing play offense.

A bad oline can be worked around, I just don’t see Denbrock being able to do it. He would at least be an ok hire if we had a good already developed oline.

We can scheme away from our weaknesses or at least attempt to do it. We chose not to do that.

Probably because the only time we even attempted to run was short yardage and goal line. Cain looked good. Him getting only 7 carries is inexcusable. We just didn’t even try to run.

Definitely need a shake up on the line. Wire can't play, kick out Frazier and let's develop Ingram inside. Let's make sure we have something to build from next year.
