Watched his first game. He struggled. Still not able to go to his left and will have to adjust to bigger quicker players. Looks a lot like Watford did his first summer league. I didn't think Watford would make it he looked so bad but obviously he worked hard and got better. Eason has a ways to go but if he works hard may have an opportunity down the road like Watford.

He had 14 points; 13 rebounds and 2/6 from 3pt range. Tari is an unpolished scorer but Houston drafted him for his athleticism, hustle and grit. If that was his first game and it was considered bad then he’s in damn good shape. Also, I respect your opinion. Just giving mine on the matter.

Nba summer league is not even on par with nba or nfl preseason
It’s meaningless
It’s a vacation for nba personnel

Brah, Tari is a first rounder which means he has a guaranteed contract so by default he has already made it.
Namari, your analysis is spot on. I caught some of the first half and watched Tari take the ball the length of the floor, go behind his back against his man and then finish at the rim through contact. That was right after he sank a 3 the play before.

Lol.
Not sure what game you watched. He threw down an earthquake dunk, played lockdown defense, and finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds in 24 minutes.
He will do much more than “get an opportunity down the road.” He’ll be a key part of a rebuilding but young and talented Rockets squad. He showed last night his potential to develop into a solid NBA starter.
Your characterization of Eason’s performance last night as “struggling” is laughable.

How much progress was he supposed to make from his last game at LSU to now without playing a single game?

Legit don't know what you were watching. It's summer league, not a polished NBA game and Tari was one of the best on the floor.

He was a first rounder because of his defensive versatility and ability to rebound. The offense is a work in progress...which Houston knew before the drafted him.

Are you canadian? No one on here is this nice when responding and disagreeing with someone, chap
Although I agree, I watched and he looked pretty good. Summer league is more street ball. Most guys haven't played with each other and are thrown together quickly. Don't expect much polished basketball, especially towards the beginning.

I thought Tari played well, all things considered. His early calling card will be his defense, which was very good. This is while having matchups with opposing players as diverse as a 6’10” big like Paolo and 6’5” guard like RJ Hampton.
Tari’s offense was kind of hit or miss, but he showed some good flashes with transition dunks and pull up 3’s. His role on this offense was also much different than it will (and probably should) be in season. Houston’s guard play was trash except for Christopher, and even christopher was more looking for his shots than looking for his teammates. There’s a reason Jabari Smith bordered on a non-factor all night- no one could get him the ball.
Tari’s biggest role change will be adapting to moving without the basketball. He took too many corner 3’s- if he develops a reliable pump fake and drives to bucket to attack closeouts, or cuts to the basket when a guard drives to the rim and draws help, he will be able to use his offensive strengths more to his advantage.

What game did you watch? Tari had a double double and played great defense on the #1 draft pick. At one point he and Jabari was arguing on who would guard Banchero. Tari had a better game than Jabari.
That guard whose last name is Christopher was ball hogging and thought the game was a showcase for just him wouldnt give neither Jabari nor Tari the ball when they were open

The majority of players struggle when they start summer league, they will have a good game, followed by a terrible game. It's the players that work hard as their weaknesses are exposed.

Yeah. I understand it's just the first game. Buy he will need to learn to go to his left if he ever wants to be a solid player in the NBA. Watford looked bad the entire summer league but like I said he must have put in the work. Eason has the tools.

I apologize, I only watched the second half so he must have played better 1st half. He did struggle in 2nd half. Maybe legs need to catch up. If he did have that score line then I take back what I said. Will go back and watch 1st half.

Tari is viewed as a defensive stopper and rebounder first, and offensive production is a bonus. He got 14 points, so he probably outperformed expectations.
Watford has nowhere near the upside that Eason has. Watford probably won't be in the regular rotation in Portland, this year, unless injuries force the Blazers to use him. Watford will probably have a long career because he's smart, doesn't make mistakes, and has a well rounded offensive game, even if he is a bit of a liability as a one-on-one defender.
Eason has the potential to be a star.
