Can I stream LSU games being televised by ESPN via the SEC Network using the WATCHESPN app on Roku? I assume no but figured I'd check with the board.
TIA.

My guess is only if your cable provider carries SEC Network.

They are not gonna let people in the back door.

If they're smart they won't. Need to get fans pissed off at DirecTV and their cable companies so that they pick SECN up sooner rather than later.

I think SECN will have its own app for different platforms. I know the BIG10 network has own for appleTV

People afraid that Comcast/SECn won't reach a deal are fooling themselves.

So you think there will be a deal soon? I'm sorry I haven't kept up.

No, I'm not privy to anything. But common sense tells me that they'll reach a deal before launch. Too much money on the table to be made or lost for both parties.

All the deals will get done, some faster than others. I can see some providers holding out and trying to force the hand of the SEC network but it won't work and all it will do is piss off the fans and their customers if they miss even an early non conf game

This would be really nice for the fan base that has a provider other than Dish. The Dish customers can already access any of their subscription content anywhere on the DISH Anywhere app. I don't see ESPN making it available on the WatchESPN app since it's tied to the individual providers for authorization and since not all will carry the SEC Network, it would require a separate app. Historically, WatchESPN app has been limited to purely ESPN branded content and that's very unlikely to change. A separate SEC Network app would be sweet for lots of people though.

I disagree. I think the SEC Network will be available on ESPN3 on WatchESPN app. Already, SEC games last year were available on ESPN3. The SEC network is really an ESPN network station, run by ESPN with a separate name. If you are able to get ESPN3 now via your cable provider via the internet, I would strongly expect that you will get access to streaming SEC Network.

There has been a mobile app for the streaming devices as well as, Apple and Android for some time but AFAIK, it's not for live video. Unless I'm wrong, it's currently only good for schedules, news, highlights and in-game updates.

Doubt it. What if you subscribe to ESPN but not SECN? I assume the SECN will be on a higher tier than simply an ESPN subscription. They aren't going to give all those people free access to SECN.

Not going to happen. All it takes is a little bit of checking to find out. Were that the case you would have already had access to the other ESPN managed network conference's content via the app. Each one of these are handled as separate entities even including, the ESPN branded channels which are the ONLY channels available on the app.

Additionally, only approved providers can authorize the apps. Some, perhaps several, will continue to do so although they will not offer SEC Network content and they are certainly not going to permit SEC Network content be made available to anyone using approvider minus being on board with the SEC Network.

This is not an agree or disagree thing. You are simply wrong. SEC Network is its own network and will not be available anywhere else.

I am 100% sure this will not be possible.

As an Astros fan, I have no reason to believe Comcast is willing to work anything out.
