Yep. Baton rouge hadn't experienced a hurricane before Gustav. Dumbarse.

I was 17 years old and lived where Andrew made landfall. I don't have to look it up.

So this turned into a BR vs NOLA thread? I thought we reserved those for the OT

That's because Gustav popped Baton Rouges cherry when it comes to hurricanes. You didn't know shite until then.

They just bitch about all the refugees that intrude on their precious soil. Trust me I know. BR people hurricanes as parties and picking up tree limbs. They do not know the flooding, severe power outages for months, etc (maybe the floods changed that)
are you fricking serious?!
go frick yourself

European model now has the storm making landfall southeast of Gainesville. Florida Power and Light asking for help from other states, looking more and more like a Tiger Stadium game!

The South Carolina Governor is asking people to evacuate 100 miles from the coast.
If this holds in Florida, Gainesville is 50 miles from the Atlantic Ocean.

I mean, it's not something to get too excited about. That means a 4, possibly 5 will make landfall and destroy people's lives. Glad it's closer to home, but damn this sucks.

Newest path projections have it slipping a little further west now before heading back NE. The come has been slowly slipping further and further west ever so slightly at just about every update

If the trend holds, and this beast doesnt weaken, they will, IMHO move the game.
ETA:
it will be done tomorrow morning, announced by 10 am CST.

Track is further West and slowing down.
Best thing to happen is this thing makes a hard Easterly turn and misses the entire Atlantic Coast.

I'll be happy to have the Gators over as our visitors for the game Saturday. It's the least we can do.

The storm is moving west. Simply no way the game happens in Gainesville on Saturday.
