Strange thing about Guice ordeal

I’m kind of surprised Coach O hasn’t defended Guice’s character. He seems like the type that would defend his guys if they were being drug through the dirt for no reason. Just an observation.

I think the LSU football twitter account is the only thing we’ve heard from them on this. Another PR fail for alleva.

No one knows what exactly went down or what information the NFL received. The fact of the matter is if Guice were truly a first round talent and the "character issues " were minor some team would have pulled the trigger on him in the first round. Either he is not first round material or there is a lot more to this story than being said.

being drug through the dirt for no reason

Defend him against what? No one had a leg to stand on. I'm sure if NFL teams asked coach O about anything he specific he would address it.

Word is some teams were putting out rumors so he would drop to them

The coach at Catholic was pretty active on Twitter defending Guice.
This was in response to an article about Guice and Antonio Calloway.

How do you lump @DhaSickest with a guy who committed credit card fraud and has legal battles ongoing. You'd think if NFL teams were concerned about @DhaSickest coachability they would have called his coaches. Not ONE NFL team called to ? his character. Where is this coming from?

It just seems like after the first night when Guice wasn’t drafted and the character things were coming up it would have been easy to put something out here squashing it. Either that or there were some issues at LSU or Coach O doesn’t want to ruffle feathers with NFL. All just my opinions. Just seems weird to me. Wasn’t he at the draft last year? I know we had more 1st round projected guys but still.

In America today, you are guilty until proven innocent. Sad fact of life.

How do you know O wasn't on the phone with teams defending Guice? Not everything needs to be done in the media for you to see.

Maybe NFL teams are realizing they don't like the culture at LSU anymore.

I think the much larger mistake by LSU was the lack of advisement to Guice that resulted in him hiring a bunch of jokesters and clowns to represent him. Maybe Guice took advice and still went with a record label as an agent. But I highly doubt Guice would totally ignore Ed O and Fat Goebbels if they warned him properly.

In theory I 100% agree with you. In today’s social media, instant gratification world that is not the case.

The character issues came out after the season, when the interview process began starting at the combine up until draft day. His problems bubbled up because of how he handled himself during this phase. This "impression" of immaturity that negatively effected him was left at many NFL doorsteps.
It is unfortunate that his Manager, family, and LSU influencers couldn't help him get prepared and manage himself through this unscathed.

there is definitely something behind him dropping to the second round. but it's not worth assaulting his character over. some things are left unsaid, as they should be. people have a right to some privacy and all of this speculation does Guice a disservice, imo.
