based on his recruitment and announcement, and how both were handled, I believe it

Do you realize he was committed to LSU previously and then decommited?

I'm not saying he is a huge risk to sign elsewhere, but I bet a lot of people here don't know that.

You said was and the recommitted.

Did he actually commit before? Your statement sounds like he has intent to commit but didn’t. If so then that’s no concern he held back.

I’m looking for clarification. Did he actually commit and decommit? If so, when did both take place?

He was verbally committed before. I don't know for exactly how long. Seems like it was close to a year or so.

He re-opened his recruitment a little less than a year ago.

Pretty sure he was all LSU the entire time. But just wanted to make double sure and took a few visits.

lol you can't trust anyone in recruiting until they sign.

Yeah, seems like just a few months ago there was a top DB prospect who was all in for LSU...right up until he sent his LOI to Bama.

Incorrect my negative friend. It may not be binding, but it is far from meaningless.

100% won't be until he signs and makes it to campus.

That said he seems to be in the minority in that he's committing to a school as much as a coaching staff. That's rare these days. If I had to put a percentage on it right now I'd say he's 95% locked, which is all you can reasonably expect with 6 months to go before he's officially a Tiger.

***This is not a shot at Edward in any way.

And I count that as a positive.

For a recruit to openly decommit, early, because he felt unsure, "follow the process", and then make an informed decision is exactly how the process is supposed to work.

- He didn't decommit because he wasn't "feeling the love"; no mention of a business decision.

- He didn't immediately commit to someone else

- He didn't wait until the dead period right before signing day (didn't leave us hanging with short notice)

I guess what I'm saying, if a kid is unsure and going to decommit- he even did that in the "right" way.

The "wrong" way is to give interviews which are wishy-washy, stay committed, and while committed take all kinds of unofficial visits making the staff wonder if the commit is going to hold.

It was direct, and so far, honest.

Sr. Was just on Moscona and said that’s he will be at LSU, it’s done, finished, he will be a tiger regardless of whoever comes calling.

Well that's good to hear.

The BOD won't be pressured to keep Orgeron because of fear of losing recruits.

Him and Kardell seem like the guys who picked LSU for LSU.

Gotta love those players.

The difference is that kid refused to actually commit which was a huge red flag in my book all along.

I actually got blasted for starting a thread asking why he wouldn’t commit if LSU was such a “sure thing”.

Stingley, on the other hand, is actually committed and has publicly stated that he’s shutting it down.

I don’t remember any such declarations from that other guy.

that is THE difference, a significant one.

yeah, kids flip... but uncommitted (like Surtain) is, well, uncommitted in any shape form or fashion.

I'm wanting to see Orgeron use the early signing period for high-rank recruits, or at least as leverage/milestone. We'll see what happens in Dec. For example, I thought CEO should've told Surtain commit at signing period (or maybe even sign) or we look around. True or not, done that way or not, use it as a form of leverage.

I thought that to myself too but it was useless to say it because of what you just said, you get roasted for making valid observations.

The worst part is that the coaching staff didn't see what was going on with him.

What I heard from Surtain in interviews was a stream of: "LSU is my leader, BUT..."

The "but" he always included was a problem. The "but" was the red flag.
