When did you first start following LSU basketball?

Did you even attend any games during the Brady years?

I doubt you did, so let me fill you in.

John Brady was the coach of Samford, not Standford, but Samford prior to coming to LSU. I'm sure you've never heard of that school since it's a little one-horse division two hole in the wall.

So to be honest with you, John Brady was a poor hire from the outset. He was in way over his head to begin with, he was paid poorly and the fan base never cared for him. So, what did John Brady do? What did he do that would endear him to me?

I'll tell you. He took a team that had been crippled by NCAA sanctions and took it to the sweet sixteen in his third year. This feat, in my opinion, was and still is, nothing short of amazing.

Then there's 2006, and well even if you don't know much about LSU basketball, I'm sure you know we won the SEC and went to the Final Four.

So, you can call me a, "frickin (sic) idiot," for wanting a return to Brady Ball--but a return to Brady Ball wouldn't be idiotic. Instead it would be competitive, and it would sure as hell beat what we have now.

Brady Ball, as I define it, is a return to the recruitment of top NBA prospects and an uptempo, fast pace offense and sticky, gritty man-to-man defense.

Also, it is important to note that I still support our current coach. I hope he succeeds. But the state of the program is at its absolute lowest. Fan outrage and anger would be preferable to malaise and apathy. At least Brady was able to generate emotion from the fan base, even though that emotion was rage.

So, my rallying cry, has and will remain, BRING BACK BRADY BALL!

I guess you never watched the 2005 team--what a shame. It was exciting as hell.

All of that NBA talent and we get whipped by what I remember Darnell Lazare called a "scrappy team."

That was an exciting team despite the loss to UAB. Although I'm sure that was the only game you cared to watch that year.

Having to play UAB at the Taco Bell arena in Boise wasn't very fun. But that loss was a stepping stone to 2006.

Screw Brady and his program, they suck right now. However, if he still has that little young wife of his, I'd gladly take that off his hands and enjoy her attributes for awhile.

Lets see we have a freshman pg thats averaging nearly 16pts a game a freshman shooting guard averaging double figures, if you ask me we are getting more than enough from our freshman And to me they are playing like top tier talent, but you are only as good as the people around you, they are able to key on stringer and turner because nobody else is a threat besides Dotson who has played very well IMO. The Point guard is the toughest position to play and for a freshman even tougher and then u ask him to be your main offensive threat

and if we are going to question there shot selection, what is the alternative, do we pass it to storm and malcolm down low and watch them trip on there own feet trying to make a post move. where are our experience players there the problem in my opinion the freshman are doing much more than can be expecting u talking about a 5'9 guy thats been in double digits every game except 1, a shooting guard thats putting up very good numbers, they are not the disappointments our upperclassmens are IMO

You lost me there...

Brady's offenses were bad...throw the ball around until there is one second on the clock and toss up a no-look shot type of bad...

Brady wasn't really a bad coach. His teams were pretty good defensively. And we did have a couple of really exciting seasons with him that I'm glad we had. But he couldn't get along with anyone and had more players quit/transfer than anybody I've ever seen. And Brady Ball at the end was bad - two 6th place Western division finishes...and the next year we won the SEC in Trent's first year.

But yeah, Trent needs to wake these guys up and just win because he doesn't exactly have Dale Brown's personality. I like him too, but they have to play better.

Rush, you'e not going to be able to convince many here of your argument for John Brady. We're sort of in the state we're in now because of him. Brady got about 6 passes. Let's let Trent have 2. If next year, we're losing to CCU and Nicholls, then I will be all aboard the TJ hack squad.

bullshite. Brady did WAY more positive for LSU than he did negative and if you can't see that, you are just a typical Brady hater. Trent Johnson did not come in with NO talent like Brady did. In fact, he was handed an SEC-championship team. Brady was handed possibly the most severe sanctions the NCAA has ever handed down in b-ball.

I've said before that when Brady was fired, it was his time to go, but don't act like he was an anchor on the program. That is so far from the truth as to be laughable. This season rests solely on Johnson. He's had 2 full years to recruit and we suck worse than before he got here.

Brady's teams would have been complete shite without the NBA players that came through the program.

He sure as shite didn't develop them.

His teams probably would have been a lot better if he hadn't run off 60% of the players that came in.

The current team is still suffering from a talent and experience gap. That gap is closing, but not quickly enough.

Last night's loss had as much to do with a pretty good Coastal Carolina team and some bizarre officiating, as it did some deficiency by LSU.

The revisionist history regarding Brady is laughable.

He was an absolute prick of a man, and he alienated a lot of formerly loyal LSU Basketball people (and there weren't too many to begin with). He was very fortunate to have Collis Temple loading his program. Without Temple, Brady would have been a complete bust.

He used the sanctions excuse for far too long. He could never sustain what little success he had, because he ran some pretty good kids out of the program with his boorish behavior. There never seemed to be any stability to the program. The only good thing I could say about him is that his teams were usually pretty good defensively. His offenses were usually pretty offensive.

It seemed like Brady could never get a decent point guard, for whatever reason. So, even our good teams, weren't complete teams. They always had a hole or two that were easily exploited.

Say what you want about Trent Johnson. I happen to think he can succeed at LSU; although, I'm not sure how you define success for LSU basketball. But, please, spare us the revisionist love for John Brady. I'll gladly take my chances with Trent Johnson over Brady any day.
