That was true before Trent came.

There hasn't been any real good talent to get after the 2008 recruiting class. This is unusual though.

He hasnt lost out on much talent in LA yet, but for one to say that its not important to control the state is silly.

LA is a great state for basketball talent. If they put ANY effort into recruiting NOLA harder they will be on to something. Because Brady sure lacked in that area. Continuously letting great players leave the state.

am tool? lol. I thought you weren't mad.

I really think you are made, and you know in your heart that you will blindly defend the program 100% no matter. But you don't have the balls to admit that I am somewhat right. And that makes you mad.

Not to mention you are a hypocrite. Calling it a knee jerk reaction, and in the next sentence say EXACTLY what everyone in this thread is saying that you are also disagreeing with. How can you sit here and bash anything that any of us are saying when you claim to feel the same way?

frick dude, you made up all these excuses after Nicholls St and told us the same shite. I can understand how you feel right now.

Not a hypocrite and really not mad. I have that kind of confidence in this staff. And I think I can be honest about this program as well, and that's all I'm trying to do. I'm not losing my shite because we lost tonight. It's frustrating and we shouldn't lose these games, but when you have a lot of young guys playing significant roles I think this has the likelihood of happening.

Like I said, not being a hypocrite. I do think that there won't be excuses next year so I'm reserving judgment. But I think there are several for this team and this season and I'm not going to go off on some posting tangent about it because I'm disgruntled over the loss tonight. I just find it funny that you think this is riling me up.

I never said they was dude

Tiger Authority disagreed that we do not have to control LA. In fact he mocked the guy with some football reference.

I am saying if the players are in LA that are SEC caliber. we have to hit them hard. Bottom line.

He can't make the same mistake Brady did. Going out of state to get hacks like Garret Green, the 2 guard from AZ that didnt score in 4 years, and Ben fricking Voogd.

Controlling the state is only important if you can't get guys elsewhere that are as good. We've been able to do that, and LA has been devoid of a lot of basketball talent since he's been here. Keeping a guy like Gathers here is certainly important. But those guys are few and far between.

If anybody can make chicken salad out of the chicken shite we have aka the basketball program, hats off to you. This team is pathetic. No fundamentals, horrible shot selection, untimely mistakes, no big play ability.

They ain't worth a shite this year and are boring to watch. Reminds me a lot of the 1992 football team.

ETA: Good luck putting behinds in the seats for the SEC part of the season.

Yeah I did mock him. Because it's not the same thing. Blanket statements about controlling the state is synonomous with football, but you can look at rosters from every team in the country and find guys that aren't from that state making significant contributions. Texas' best player is from Cali.

There is always a likelihood to lose.

Losing to Memphis: OK.

Losing to Nicholls and Coastal Car. Not OK.

Yes we are young. Would you also agree we are talented? After what we saw in year 1, wouldnt you think we should expect TJ to coach a young, talented team to a win at home against a school most of us didnt know even had a basketball program?

I dont think that is asking too much. But that is just me. Ive followed his teams before, even before LSU. I know he can coach. But this is disturbing.

So wait, let me get this straight.

I am the kind of guy to try and own people over discussions over a message board. I am an idiot. I am a tool blah blah blah.

yet you seem mad enough(yeah we know you arent mad) to start calling me names over a simple basketball discussion?

you stoop to making fun of the CAble Guy's grammar and such...

yet you keep saying you arent mad. shite the Cable Guy has prob agreed with you for years. Iam surprised to see him sour over this start. Props to him.

The last few years laughs at this statement.

Gathers, Felix and other NOLA area players are guys to watch for in the 2012 class.

Why else do you think we have a new coach now?

I'm off but I cannot wait to bump this thread in the future. Just enthusastic about the prospects in two years of remembering this thread, finding it, then being like "bump" and just sitting back and letting everyone eat message board crow over some posts about the Coastal Carolina game two year prior. Purpose sought, purpose found.

couldn't agree with you more on this....giving scholarships to guys just for the sake of filling the roster was beyond dumb by Brady

hopefully next year we hit NOLA hard since they are supposed to have 4 or 5 legit players

You made it a blanket statement.

He didnt say get every player from the state, regardless of need.

He said control the state. Meaning if there is a guy that is SEC caliber, we need to go after him hard unless you have a full depth chart at that position.

Equal players of equal talent, you always go for the instate guy.

Texas' best player is from Cali.

Ok?

1 player from 1 team.

LSU isnt Duke or North Carolina. shite, LSU isnt even Texas at this point.

In terms of recruiting, we are regionally challenged team for many different reasons.

However LA is a state that if you control most years, we can field a very competitive team. Again, that was one of Brady's biggest mistakes.

If LSU proves to be relevant and Johnson works his arse off in the hot spot areas, we'll be ok.

lester. I've definitely soured on the program as a whole, top to bottom. Wish I didn't have to. Hopefully we get better this and next year, I'm just not that confident it happens.

I know its not an excuse, as it was a bad loss tonight, but Coastal Carolina is a decent team. Won a bunch of games last year and are off to a good start this year.

Derenbecker is an LSU worthy talent. Last year there were a few swingmen that could have played at LSU, they just didnt fit a need.

Eddie Ludwig? Who knows. Trent gave him an offer.

3 years ago Greg Monroe was in LA. Trent wasnt around yet, but its been 2 years. Some dude Lacedarius Dunn the year before, who by all accounts would be a 4 year player. A building block. He may only be the best player in the big 12

He has John Isacc inked for next year.

So the last 3 years, with limited schollies available, he has inked 1 LA kid each year.

im not saying sign 4 LA guy each year. But you better get the good ones
