That is not an answer that is an excuse! Which makes my point from earlier you are a one dimensional one man team and when LSU shuts down Edwards it will not be a Woford team you will be facing...

This is fun, we're getting more smack talk (by far) out of Appy State than I think we ever got from a big-boy football team, like Virginia Tech or Arizona State. Gets the blood pumping for the opening of the season, I like it.
However, let's get a little perspective here:
Armanti Edwards, running the ball against Michigan, had 17 carries for 62 yards, a 3.6 ypc average. That's supposed to make LSU quake in its boots?
AE was 17/23 throwing the ball, with 3 TDs and 2 INTs, excellent numbers, and that's why the offense moved and Appy State won the game. Dexter Jackson (now in the NFL) had 92 yards and 2 TDs. With Jackson gone, that's one threat to take it all the way on every play that the LSU D won't have to account for.
Mike Hart averaged 8.2 yards per carry on Appy State, his highest of the year, except for against Eastern Michigan (who?). LSU has a much better running game than Michigan (11th vs 47th last year). Expect LSU to run wild on ASU's defense.
Appy State can certainly make a game of it. But LSU is a far, far better running team than the one that struggled to score on ASU in 2005; while Appy State has shown some vulnerability to the run. And I'm not sure that ASU's offense is that much better than the one that put a goose-egg up in 2005 (17th ranked offense in 1AA in 2005, 1st in 2007), especially after losing their top RB, top WR, and 2 or 3 offensive linemen.
Never thought I would be getting this excited for a 1AA game. Keep it up!

And don't forget, Jackson reminds us, that Appalachian State gave LSU a run for its money back in 2005 during a 24-0 loss. In front of 91,000 fans, the Mountaineers trailed just 14-0 in the fourth quarter and had squandered some scoring chances.

No, I don't care what the stats are as long as he runs enough to win(id rather he not since hes so small)

dexter only had 3 catches, although they were important ones.
I agree in terms of you guys running the ball but at least run defense will be our strong point with all our Dline and Linebackers returning. we will only be returning 1 defensive back starter out of the 2 corners and 2 safetys which will be our clear weak spot.
we can hope your inexperience at QB will make up for that.
thank you for actually bringing up points instead of the usual
keep laughing Sammich, I was there and saw a dropped TD that would have made it a 1 score game going into the 4th. we put up a better fight than Miami did against yall that year(with flynn instead of Jamarcus Russell)

Yep, I've been here for 10 years. I like it OK, I guess part of it is getting used to things up here. I do miss home (New Orleans) and plan to head down there this fall (and just so happen to time it for an LSU home game!).

i can't get use to the weather here..40-80, 50-75, rain, 80 one minute snow the next...i have to carry a change of clothes everywhere i go just to be prepared for the weather change while i'm out. I also hate Virginia people and having to read about Tech in every paper! Oh, and i'm tired of hearing about the Sufolk tornado...although i'm sure they will hold on to that just like they held on to Isabel for the last 5 years! Sorry needed to vent about this place!

I can almost go out on a limb and say that appy fans may just be the most unrealistic fans i've come in contact with... That Michigan game probably did more harm than it did good. Now that your team beat Michigan, yall are just one unstoppable force....

So..it coulda, woulda, shoulda been 24-7 LSU, if the Appy receiver could catch?

Sammich -
Just like you coulda, woulda, shoulda beaten Arkansas and Kentucky. the only reason you got anywhere near a Nat championship game with 2 losses is because of all the upsets at the end of the season.
if it was settled with a playoff I personally think USC would have won it all
basically, im saying that even with our team then which isn't as good as our team in 2008 kept it close with your team in 05 which was superior to your upcoming 2008 team(in my opinion)
and don't try to tell me Jarrett Lee/Andrew Hatch are better than Jamarcus Russell or Keiland Williams is better than Joseph Addai

I remember that 2005 game. We were playing a undefeated Alabama team the next week for the SEC west lead. I'm sure all of our attention was paid to a division 1-AA powerhouse.

Where are you going with all this??? Do you really think that app st is better than LSU??

Like our receiver that went before your receiver in the 2nd round?
He went before Doucet NOT because of his receiving ability solely. HE went before Doucet due to...
A. Doucet being injured half of last year
B. Jackson having a lot of upside being a return specialist in the NFL
There's no doubt in anyone's non-biased mind Doucet is a better pure WR than Dexter Jackson, but with DJ's return ability and the recent impact of players like Devin Hester in the NFL...teams are trying to get "another" (Devin Hester).

Good thing you didn't have to face Wofford again.

I just think we can compete and the chance that we beat you is bigger than you think it is.

Comparing the "Big House" to Tiger Stadium is a joke.
Think more of the Christians vs Lions in the Coliseum

especially when its bigger than your house? the stadium/time played means absolutely nothing.
as our head coach put it to us before the Michigan game - "The only difference is, there's going to be more concrete."

With all due respect to Addai....Williams is likely the most talented RB we've had come to LSU this decade. I personally can't wait to see him get the majority of the carries. He's a home-run threat every play and can take serious abuse being 5'11 225lbs.
What makes you think Keiland Williams isn't or won't be as good (or better) as Addai? He has better measureables and has obviously impressed so far.

Keiland Williams, Charles Scott, Richard Murphy, Trindon Holiday (if he is back from the Olympics)and Steven Ridley combined are better than Joseph Addai.

Have you ever been to the Big House? They seat a ton of people but it's not loud at all. A ton of old people (alums) are there and the stadium is not built to trap in noise. The Horseshoe, Camp-Randall and especially Happy Valley are noticeably louder than the Big House in just the Big Ten. IF you think Death Valley will be as quiet as the "Quiet House" (As it's called by many Big Ten fans), then you're in for a surprise.
