Sounds like BK will take the approach Ole Miss took this year.

Aggressive portal hunting, best team money can buy with the money Underwood freed up.

If Nuss and the others return, we could frick shite up.

Durham will only get better. OL and DL are going to be flocking to the portal. I would love to see an all or nothing year for BK. He knows he fricked up this year especially with all the turnover.

Next year will be the first year with a multi year stable staff.

He needs to load up in the trenches and a Safety or two on D and a C and a G or two on O.

How did that work out for ole miss, Ohio state? You can’t build it through the portal! You have to build it slow with “ your guys “ instate guys who bleed for you, not mercenaries

I have no doubt fans would be appeased with even a playoff appearance.

We have that at skill positions. That's where you need those guys. The mercenaries should be in the trenches. Period.

What I heard was to be more aggressive in the initial portal to fill holes. I didn't hear building the roster thru the portal. That always fails.

frick, I'd be sort of appeased with winning an opening game for a change.

Wouldn't surprise me.

Just because this place thinks he's bad doesn't mean he actually is.

I don't think Kelly wants to pay an OC if he's gonna have to hold a play sheet anyway and take his mind from other things

Possibly, I guess we'll see. I would think that BK doesn't necessarily expect a first year OC to function entirely on his own.

He used a play sheet at times even with Denbrock.

Not the same. Kelly is still building a base through recruiting. The portal will be used to plug holes and provide depth while the enormous freshman class matures.

Go look at Ole Miss’ recent recruiting. The classes are small and not highly rated. We’ve done well offensively the last three years and last year’s and this class are now beefing up the defense with the new staff. Ole Miss didn’t have that.

We would be taking more of the Ohio State approach- supplement good or better recruiting with a top portal class. That philosophy isn’t the issue. OSU is more of a coaching failure than a portal projection failure. They insisted on trying to beat Michigan running between the tackles at their strength (DL) with an OL down multiple starters. If they had focused on throwing the ball and running outside, they win that game going away. Ryan Day wanted to prove something by bullying Michigan after 3 losses and it blew up in his face. That was a 1/9/12 level coaching failure on his part.

No, he's actually bad, especially in the red zone. His playcalling lacks all creativity and ingenuity. Very predictable and easy to game plan for.

LSU has to get a new Center for next year. No question about that. Chester is a major liability and will cost us next year if he's our starting C.

Our redzone offense struggled because Nuss isn't a threat to run and our oline was average at run blocking. When you get into the red area the defense can add an extra hat into the run fit because you don't need as many over the top defenders. This makes it harder to run the ball unless you can run the QB. The defense can always outnumber you in the run game near the endzone. The only way to equal out those numbers is to run the QB.

I'm pretty sure he meant Florida State - similar to Ole Miss, they banked on "win now with transfers".

I think BK is going the Ohio State route at this point. Heck, almost every program will have to do something similar. Even spending money like Texas (and now Michigan) on HS recruits is no guarantee. It just puts the numbers in your favor. They're "buying" with money what coaches like Saban and Bobby Bowden used to be able to do with their name/reputation.

I’d like to see some aggressive ball protection out of Nuss.
