Fonua says he can’t freaking breathe in them and Deculus said it’s like breathing through a ziplock bag.

I don't understand why they need these. The players don't like them, helmets aren't worn 100 percent of the game, and if we feel the need to put masks on the helmets, why play football at all?

to create the illusion of safety.

like wearing a bandanna over your face in a crowd or at a store. its not likely going to do anything but it creates the illusion of safety.

If everyone on the field tested negative prior to the game.......what/who are the shields protecting? It’s just dumb

The shields are far more likely to cause serious harm to a player than COVID is.

Gonna be interesting to hear the conversation after heat strokes rise

I’m more worried about a player collapsing from not being able to breathe wearing that then catching coronavirus.

I remember back in highschool I thought it would look cool if I had a visor on my helmet. Took it off after the first practice because that thing made it feel so much hotter than it already was. I can't even imagine a full face shield.

yup.

We have lost our collective minds. The football stuff just underscores the overreaction... You have a healthy group of young men in an age bracket that has basically a covid death rate of zero.

Playing football is far more harmful to these players than a virus that most healthy 18-22 year olds are asymptomatic

High School leagues made rules that players on the sidelines have their helmets off to try to reduce heat illness. Now we’re going to require them to wear their helmets all the time.
More rules create more problems.

Trust me, the players won't be wearing those full face shields. Why? Because you can't freaking breathe in them, much less run full out! Walking around wearing a mask in 100 degree heat is unbelievably hot and stupid. Can't imagine having to run with a mask covering my nose and mouth and certainly not a full shield. Let's hope the SEC/NCAA get's real with protective safeguards.

JJ Watt said weeks ago that if the NFL made them wear these, he wasn’t going to play the two games he’d play before getting injured and being out for the year.

I don't want these poor kids to have to play football if they are going to be subjected to wearing that crap. People need to calm down about COVID before anyone should play again if that's how it's going to be.

No new normal for me. We need to strive for how life was pre Covid.

If LSU was under oath they wouldn’t be able to defend these masks.
