Yep the old fumble it to yourself in the endzone play. Worked perfectly.

That wasn’t a TD. That left them 4th and 1 and they went for it

Yes...You go with the odds. We was forth and a finger nail tip from the goal line with the score tied. Worse case scenerio they have to drive it 99 and a half yards. O, said that he depended on his defense and I get it but the defense was playing horrible that forth quater and he still kicked the field goal. If they can play defense from the 25 and prevent them from getting in fied goal or touchdown range then hell they can stop them from goin 99 yards. I understand it puts u up by 3 but in that situation you go for it, thats what separates mediocre coaches from great coaches. Les was a lot of things but we all know he earned the name mad hatter.

How stupid is it to kick a FG with struggling kickers in a meaningless bowl game inside a foot?

this is the big difference here

there is no next game win or lose so why not go for it?

granted the defense was playing good and it was only a 50/50 shot even being that close, but the way our kicker was missing everything, kicking it was more likely 60/40 to miss it rather then make it.

i dont agree with much of the criticism of O, but that was a legitimate and well deserved criticism of a dumb decision he made.

kicking it there, is only a good decision, if you are playing safe and conservative to protect your chance to move on to play another game if you win, AND that your kicker is 100% expected to be a sure thing kicking it there.

They don't have to drive it 99 yards to kick a field goal. And Les would have kicked the field goal too.

How about keeping the ball in bounds, losing 15 seconds then calling a timeout anyway.

You douchebags crucified Les for those sorts of screwups.

It was a chicken shite decision and O has a lower IQ than Les so nothing that happened was surprising.

It was disappointing for what it could have been but if he went for it and missed you'd be saying we should have gone for the points.

If they go for it and miss it the best result they are playing for is OT. Kicking a field goal means the better unit gets a chance to make a stop to win the game.

This is playing not to lose not playing to win.

If you go and score TD the worst thing they can do is tie and you go to OT

If you miss they need roughly 65-70 yards against your best unit to attempt a long FG to win

If you kick a FG they can tie or win
