First, it was a needed win and Tigers got it.

Overall I thought we played a pretty good game and as bad as the last 5 minutes of the first half were, the last 5 minutes of the second half were just as good.

LSU was down 3 with 5 minutes left and held Bama to 5 points - a 30ft miracle 3 pointer with the time clock expiring and 2 FTs. With the game tied 62-62 outside of 5 minutes left, Bama scored a total of 8 points: a 25ft 3-pointer by Norris, the 30ft 3 pointer and 2 FTs.

In the last 3 minutes and change, LSU allowed a grand total of 1 point.

For a team that has been labeled as lacking effort and hustle, LSU outrebounded Bama by 5, out assisted Bama by 3, had 1 less TO than Bama. If it wasn't for some miracle 3s and some questionable calls, LSU walks away with this game. Even with that adversity, LSU answered the bell down the stretch.

LSU is now 2nd place in the SEC at 5-2, tied with UK and UF if UF wins tonight.

Bonus stat: Craig Victor was 3-3 from the FT line.

Lot of positives to take from today. You have to grind and play defense on the road in the SEC to win. We did that which was a major weakness earlier this year.

And 4/15 from the field. I love Victor, love the guy...but he's got to only take good shots. Blakeney and Hornsby combined didn't take that many and they were making shots.

I'd rank this up with Ky and Vandy as easily our best games.

We showed toughness, resilience and effort. And When Victor was out we didn't say woe is me it's over, we played to our strength's and didn't just concede.

We got Bama's best and we gutted this shite out. That's what I want to see.

No frickin excuses nut up and play ball. That's what I saw today and I liked it.

Keep it up Tigers!!

I won't lie...when Bama hit that 30 foot desperation 3, I thought, "another Coleman experience." Glad that the Tigers proved me wrong.

Victor had zero fouls until.02 in the first half, received his 4th with over 10 minutes to play and quickly fouled out after he reentered the game. He needs to be playing max minutes for LSU to be a very good team.... just my humble opinion.

Anything LSU gets from Elbert, Darcy, Aaron, and Brian is a surprise to me at this point.

Well yea, the difference between Victor and any other big is almost unmeasurable.

Also, didn't the Tigers get jobbed somewhere around the 4 minute mark? They had forced Bama to throw up a bad shot that airballed as the shot clock was expiring. It looked like the Tigers got control of the ball before the shot clock expired and were heading downcourt with numbers in their favor...but the refs blew the play dead.

See, this is nothing more than coach-speak. All wins are needed. Every single one.

considering lsu still has to play A&M, USCe, UK, UF, and OU...every other game is a must win

Name the last NCAAT team that went undefeated start to finish.

This was a needed win to continue to position LSU as an NCAAT team. I thought that was clear?

Are you saying there aren't games that are needed to position us at this point?

What?

If you're asking if every game is a needed win to position LSU for an NCAAT bid, then the answer is NO, not every game is a needed win.

This win was needed compared to winning against OU next Saturday. Sounds like you're just trying to argue semantics.

I've already stated my thoughts in a separate thread on what I would consider needed wins ROS.
