Why not? The WR's are said to be the most talented position on offense.

Slinger at La Tech:
Season.... Offense rank.... Run/pass rank.... Run-pass split
1988................NA.....................NA.......................45-55

Slinger at Georgia
Season.... Offense rank.... Run/pass rank.... Run-pass split
1993................19th...................93rd/8th..................44-56

O also said we were going to be a 50/50 RP team last year, we threw it 32% of the time for a whopping 23 passes per game.

Unless we’re arguing symantics of whether your were always saying he ran a variation of the ace sometimes known as the spread this doesn’t prove or even show that he can run a spread offense.

My point is that Ree was absolutely RABID in his defense of Canada... up until O fired him and then Canada was magically a bad egg and he concluded his offense was not suited for the SEC or something. He also was RABID in shouting down anyone that thought O would hire Ensminger. Then O does it and all of a sudden hiring SLINGER is absolutely genius.

totally agree. there are fools on here who think Ensminger doesn't know how many players are allowed on the field and, better yet, that they know more about football than the coaches.

You need to return and exchange your sarcasm meter...you bought a lemon.

I can't believe that you're still clinging to this as if it's a thing. That's like saying that just because you can drive your pinto doesn't mean you can drive your mom's Corvette.

No it’s like saying just because you have driven an 18 wheeler you can drive nascar.

I am Sure you can take it around a track but are you going to win a race?

I am Sure he can run some kind of spread offense. Is he the best person we could have hired to do that though? If we wanted to run a spread offense why are we picking a guy who is learning it and not a guy who knows it.

FROM WHERE?

HE HAS NEVER RUN A SPREAD OFFENSE.

RUNNING A PLAY OUT OF A “SPREAD” FORMATION =\= RUNNING A SPREAD OFFENSE.

RUNNING SHOTGUN =\= RUNNING A FULL SPREAD CONCEPT OFFENSE

He has never even been an assistant in a spread offense.

Are you really suggesting that a man who has spent his entire adult life in football at the highest levels possible doesn’t already know what a spread offense includes and how to implement it? Is that what you’re sticking with bud?

Are you sticking with the idea that anyone who has coached football can coach any offense whatsoever at the highest level?

That’s what you’re sticking with?

There is a difference between coaching a spread and coaching it well.

It's the fact that Les Miles and Cam would come out in 22, 21, 20 mostly to run the football. They also didn't go from 21, 20 to 12, 11, and 10 personell in the hopes of fooling the defense. These formations were almost exclusively used for down and distance of the offense.

You could go from 21 to 11 personnell but still be a very balanced team. Basically you can still have plenty of WRs to pass or power in there to run. If you're in shotgun the whole time then it's not as easy to run unless of course you're using real RPO and not the (QB isn't a threat) RPO.

I like similar formations doing lots of different things out of those formations bc that is what can fool a defense. Especially if your hurting them with the same runs then all of a sudden it's PA. Cam would run the ball until stopped then run PA or he would run the ball very effectively then start passing out of soread formations instead of using the same formation to run PA from. It was the craziest offense with no real direction.

2008 Auburn: Air Raid offense
2006 & 2007 Auburn: Gulf Coast offense

Both versions of a spread offense.

I’m saying he’s capable and qualified to do it. You act as if he had to buy the Spread offense for dummies book this offseason.

That is absolutely his goto argument. It's completely ridiculous on it's face and in any other environment he'd be getting laughed off the board. Unfortunately here you've got people rooting for SE to fail so they can say I told you so and have another coaching search that everyone can be underwhelmed at.

12 people on the field, huh? I really hope that was a typo and Ensminger didn't really say that, because if he did, prepare yourselves for an offensive shitshow.

And what happened?

Unless I am mistaken, LSU now has a different offensive coordinator.
