""Alabama will be the dominate team for years to come (or as long as Sabear is there)"

Perhaps, but where has Nick dominated in either college or pro football?

A - He is a better coach after his Miami experience
B - The other coaches in the West today are not as talented as those when he was HC of LSU
C - He doesn't face Florida every year in the regular season.

Agree with C and maybe A, although I think his current coaching efforts are a result of "making up" for the failure in Miami. I take Saban to be an old school pride type of guy and he probably feels compelled, more than anyone else, that he has a lot to prove after that debacle. Totally disagree with B.

Miles took over in 2005 implemented his scheme with Pelini's defense and won his own NC after 3 years. Saban only chose a handful of players that had an impact that season. Byrd was one of the best receivers and Miles recruited him. Freshman didn't learn much under Saban to where it would impact them 3 year out. Jean-Francois was recruited by Miles and made key plays in the SECCG and NC game in winning. Chad Jones played frequently in diffent situations and so did Harry Coleman. It is Miles' NC team whether you like it or not.

t does help Bama that AU, Tenn, and LSU have been down, and they dont have to play Florida. On the other hand, if the SEC is down, LSU shouldve done better too. LSU has struggled against mediocre Arky, Ole Miss, and UGA teams.

It also bears pointing out that both Alabama and Florida had two weeks to prepare against LSU and LSU still gave them both hell. It'll be interesting to see what Les Miles can do with 2 weeks to prepare to play Alabama next year. Alabama will also have the same two week buffer next year.

He'll have some down years if he gets a few QB's like Marcus Randall.

Because most people can't see the forest from the trees. Alabama is hot right now, people are getting on the bandwagon. Just like they did for LSU during their run and UF on their run.

IMO, there are too many good coaches and programs in the SEC for ANY team to dominate.

I have to partially disagree. As far as Saban dominating the entire SEC, Urban Meyer is a good coach and will always have NFL talent. He will challenge Saban at least sometimes over the years he stays. As far as the West domination, Saban is human and will slip up from time to time in a game or two, but not enough for any West team to catch up. Overall in looking at the coaches in the West and the program Saban is building he will in my opinion dominate the West for years to come. He really has no coaches in the West who can threaten him consistently. LSU plays Florida every year which hurts and with Meyer there that is gonna be a loss very frequently.

Dominate the West= yes
Dominate the SEC= no, but have more titles than anyone else maybe alternating with Florida sometimes

The logic in this thread is very weird:

Sick Naban comes in to a shitty college program.

Sick Naban inherits previous coach's players in same shitty college program.

Sick Naban makes successful run(s) to NC ball game with shitty college program's players from previous coach who couldn't win a Conf Division title much less a Conference Title nor a chance to occupy one sideline in the NC. <<does any of this sound familiar?>>

Despite the obvious conflicts of arguments being made - most here conclude Sick Naban can only win with other guy's players then moves on when the gig is up <<when his recruits are to step up, show up, and Win.>>

Is that what he did at LSU?

It can be argued that he was on the way to doing just that. A screw job at Auburn in 2004 is all that prevented him from winning three SEC titles in his last four years.

This "Elite" crap is ridiculou! We are elite. Florida has been elite since Spurrier took over. Just because we go 9-3 in a season doesn't mean we are not elite. Saban went 9-3 in his last year at LSU and we remained elite. In fact we won 11 games in a row for 3 straight seasons. There cycles to when you can put runs together. Once you are an elite program you are an elite program. We will always get recruits because of the facilities at LSU, the Atmosphere and exposure. Are you saying USC is not an "elite" program anymore becaus they lost 4 this year? They have a freshman QB, we have a 19 year old Soph.

I swear some people just won't let Saban go and give Miles his due. By the way all of Saban's upperclassmen at Alabama are Shula recruits.

Every coach/team feels they will dominate after winning a NC. Bama has not won it yet.

And that's kinda amusing since Nick seemed to have no problem letting us go.

We hit a bump in the road in 08, but judging by our current national ranking, 3rd place finish in the powerful SEC, and New Year Day bowl invite if we not still seen as elite, we are pretty dang close.

Bama will be no more dominant than LSU has been in the last decade. Saban coaches he doesn't play. There are plenty of players who feel 'the want' NOT to play for Saban as much as players who want to play for him. A lot of playes don't fit Saban's mold.
LSU's recruiting is probably affected more by TAF and fans that boo/leave at halftime than by Saban's recruiting ability. LSU gets UF and UA EVERY year...that's a ticket to the top10 in itself according to people in this thread...every year. All we gotta do is figure out how to win and we're in?
That's an asset, not a liability. Easy is for pussies...this is the SEC...it ain't easy.

We have a couple of off years...even though we could still get 10 wins this year...and Saban will dominate forever. Still say hold off on this until we see how the very good young players LSU has stockpiled do as they emerge over the next year or so.

Expect to see recruiting to excel with the new coaching additions. Also expect to see Jordan Jefferson get a lot better next year.

And bet your bottom dollar that we have a great class this year and even better one next with all the talent La has in the 2011 class.
