No matter who it is, It will change nothing for me because I Love my LSU Tigers! I will support whoever gets the job!
My first choice would be Godwin if I had to choose.

Consensus is nobody is good enough to coach here. Perhaps the more vocal Ranters can take the job, obviously they would never lose a game.

My question is how much of a factor are the Money People in this decision? Shaq is on Papa Johns BoD. Papa Johns is a huge benefactor in UoL Athletics. Is Shaq a player in getting McDonnell to LSU? Just a curiosity.

Bottom line is this is LSU baseball. LSU is a top 5 college baseball school like Bama is in football and Kentucky is in basketball for the SEC. They (AD and board) need to examine who's the best coaching candidate and go get him. Record points to Corbin at Vandy, O'Connor at UVA (if he's even a candidate), Van Horn at Arkansas, or Godwin at ECU based on success at a school with fewer resources. Vitello has done great since getting to Tennessee, and he'd be a great hire IMO, but he's still pretty green in terms of accomplishments.
Dark horse candidate, but a deserving candidate would be Tadlock at Texas Tech.
Any proven winner is a good hire.
I don't understand the hate for Bianco as I think he'd do great and I like his style of coaching! He competes in the best division of the best conference and has out performed most! He's LSU baseball alum and his kid came to LSU instead of Ole Miss... I think he bleeds P&G and would pour his heart and soul into the program!

If Casey becomes coach, are people on gonna call him names forever or become mature enough to realize that he had nothing to do with that pedophile business. It is nonsensical, imho, to keep bring that up.

but I believe we really screwed up not hiring Casey. Jmho.
The best career doesn't make you the best coach somewhere. He was the best guy for Oregon State, he's not the best guy for LSU

Corbin would be the best coach for the job.
I just have a weird feeling Woodward pulls this rabbit out of his arse. I know there is 0% chance it happens, but with the smoke screens and fact that no one knows who it is makes me feel like it’s a big fish.

Would you expect everyone to have the same favorite for the job? It's just discussion not like anything posted on here has any bearing on the decision.

LSU fans are some of the most knowledgeable college baseball fans in the nation. Because of this, I'm a little surprised DVH is being brought up time and time again.
Low chance on Corbin too unless he just wants a new challenge. That's fairly plausible and it would be kind of interesting to see if he's just as good with scholarship restrictions.

Why surprise? It's respect for what he's built! It's a sign that he's VERY good! It doesn't matter how good Arkansas thinks they or he have it in Fayetteville! LSU baseball is on a different level, and can't allow another program to delay their return to perennial power within the conference and country! While Vandy, Florida or maybe even Arkansas may think they have passed LSU, they haven't... Yet!
DVH may love it in Fayetteville, and that's great, but every college baseball coach in the country will listen when LSU rings. Any coach may honestly want to stay where they are, but they WILL listen and they WILL consider it! It's not disrespectful, it's truth. You may think baseball has changed just like everyone thought football changed with the BCS and playoffs, but guess what? Bama bought their coach from the NFL after he built LSU, and here we are! It sucks when it happens to "your" team, but it happens. LSU is a homerun hire away from another dynasty, and, with Scott Woodward, will likely go out and get the man they want!

Of course it's respect but I can guarantee you he's not on anyone's list. And that's only because everyone knows he's never leaving Fayetteville.
He's coached at AR for 19 yrs. He's an alum. He will 100% retire here.

100% sure about that? Arkansas has the money to match LSU, but will they? Will Van Horn see a career opportunity to coach a dynasty? Crazier shite happens. 19 years is what it took him to become accomplished and earn his national respect as a great coach.
Posted on 6/11/21 at 12:05 am to Cracking
100% sure.
He didn't just start becoming a good coach at AR and he has been widely respected for many years. He doesn't want the NC just for himself. This is his dream job and he won't even answer the call if there is one.

The hire should be Godwin or Vitello.
If it's bianco this place will be unbearable and deservedly so.

All 4 of those listed would be great hires.
