This will be Mainieri's 4th, and this season appears to be a futility record.

Smoke Laval’s record and accomplishments over a 4 year span were every bit as good as Mainieri has been since 2010, and that’s not a compliment to Smoke

I don’t recall Smokes teams getting swept this often either.

Are our standards lower than when we let Smoke go?

PM should be fired tomorrow morning.

If not, the Box should be EMPTY the rest of the season.

I remember we could see the talent pool dwindling under Smoke as Skip’s guys left. We weren’t recruiting well and I record showed it. PM took over a down program.

Now we are suffering from recruiting misses, a stale program and a loaded SEC. We aren’t nearly where Vandy is and that’s where we want to be.

It’s different than the Smoke situation, but the cure is the same. We need a change, new blood and new energy. Unfortunately we are locked in to a 3 plus million dollars obligation. TAF was down 12 million, can they or a big booster put up the 3.3?

This will be the only thing that causes real change.

I remember when Mainieri's fans would say Laval didn't care and was just collecting checks, in my best Ted Knight voice "Well We're Waiting".

As long as people keep paying for season tickets do you think LSU cares if they show up or not?

Ok. Did smoke win a national title? Did he get to the title series another year? Was he national seed like 7 years in a row?

We all get it and we’re all on the same page. Paul will be replaced if this continues.

But comparing Paul to smoke is like comparing Les to Dinardo.

Paul’s skins are on the wall and when he leaves he’ll be one of only 2 baseball coaches to ever win a national title for LSU.

And one of 6 coaches to ever win a national title in one of the big 3 for LSU.

The time has come but y’all are reaching with some of this stupid shite

I was just wondering how Smoke's record compared to Mainieri's. I believe the difference is it was just after the Bertman years and LSU baseball was held to a higher standard than it is today.

If I remember correctly Smoke had some talent the problem was that the talent was more interested in going to Tigerland and smoke didn’t seem to care.

I just don’t understand why Woody extended the guy. We thought we were getting an ace in the hole with our new AD. Turns out he is just an arse hole.

Should is the wrong word. It implies that it’s easy, that anyone could do it; when reality is it’s extremely hard to put together elite teams every season and get to Omaha. Then you have to win the tournament there.

No doubt we have the tools to compete with Vandy, but you have to have the coaches and players focused on the process of building championships with the energy to get it done. Nothing should be taken for granted. Just because we are LSU guarantees nothing.

The best gift Paul ever got was covid. Allowed him to keep his job another year.
