Isn't that why he played against Florida? If that's the case then Willy Wade still be suspended is nothing but a pissing match being upheld by a slapdick administration that got their feelings hurt because someone didn't bow down to them. I can't wait to watch these frickers burn on their way out the door.

not necessarily.

you could theoretically have a video of Wade handing cash directly to Dawkins with a written/signed affidavit saying it’s for landing Smart. If Smart “doesn’t know” this deal happened, then Smart is cleared. Wade isn’t.

This is 100% correct and your answer. Well done.

See Cam Newton.

Based on the information available to the reinstatement staff at this time, we do not have sufficient evidence that Cam Newton or anyone from Auburn was aware of this activity

It's quite plausible LSU came to a similar conclusion re: Javonte Smart.

It would be very nice if the NCAA would put out a statement like they did with Cam. I'm sure the reason they have not is because there is so much pending with the FBI investigation and court cases. For now, we are assuming LSU compliance ran this over and over with the NCAA folks on site to assess the risk of playing Javonte.

I think this phrase from the Cammy Cam stuff above is key to remember in the Javonte case as well:

quote:

Based on the information available to the reinstatement staff at this time

Barring new evidence, LSU couldn't find sufficient reason to hold Javonte back right now. They can't prove he knew anything or had anything at all to do with the offer.

Whereas, Wiretap Willie still has lots of 'splainin to do.

Doubtful the NCAA has much of aanything on this case to be in position to make a determination. It does not work that quickly.

At this stage LSU compliance must do its due diligence and issue their ruling based upon facts at hand. They had not developed plausible information of any violations concerning Smart, he and his mother denied received impermissible benefits and all there was is s snippe of conversation with Wade which is open to interpretation.

LSU did its part and then avoicdd possible legal action by Smart by clering him to play. Subsequent invesigation by the NCAA could yield different results or all parties might be cleared. There may not be further invesigation.
