What will it take to get someone else in there for him. Seems like he’s getting more of a chance then he should. Put Chris Reid in there he gets on base and fields well
And Hilliard needs to be a mid week starter

According to DT, he has best exit velocity on team. Do we get credit for that?

No reason at all Reid shouldn't be playing 3rd until Smith gets back. Hughes looks like he might keep the SS spot, so Smith will take 3rd.

I mean, he's 1 for 2 tonight. Reid gives you worse defense and is barely a threat to do anything offensively

I don't know why Chris Reid seems like he's at the bottom of the depth chart. He was very solid his freshman year.

Reid will draw walks unlike Slaughter though. Slaughter either hacks at the ball or hits pop ups. He is too lost at the plate at this point.

I’ll politely disagree based on what I’ve seen.

Reid is really good at the plate. No he doesn’t have much power but he always swings at good pitches and he gets on base.

Sweet. What about the rest of the season? Any idea?

His freshmen season he led the team in walks....and hit a hair under .300 while slaughter couldn't hit .270....and this year is below .100...he couldn't do any worse offensively and he's still a good glove defensively.

Reid finds ways to get on base and have productive at bats. Slaughter isn't spectacular at 3rd and has brought nothing to the plate. However, he has infinitely more upside if he figures it out. I think Mainieri makes the switch after the weekend, possibly before, if Slaughter doesn't turn it around. And we need Slaughter to start hitting the ball, especially with Smith out for awhile and Watson out for now.

nah, Paul seems to hate Reid. Slaughter is probably starting until Josh Smith comes back.
