The constant bashing of Jake Slaughter is getting old. No one is taking shots at Reid for going down looking twice in huge situations. No one is taking shots at Coomes for not being able to block a ball. Or at Dup for grounding out to end the game.

Going by the box score he had 2 hits last night and absolutely crushed the ball at his 1st AB. It wasn’t pretty but the only run came on a ball that Slaughter put in play. At least the dude was swinging and didn’t go down looking.

Just don’t understand the amount of hate that Jake gets.

I didn't know Jake Slaughter's mom posted on the rant.

The slide last year doesnt help his case. That's probably where a lot of it comes from

Reid - though his ba has dropped he still has a .452 obp.

Coomes - just filling in for Hunter a game.

He was a few swings away from being really hot at the plate earlier this season. Dude was crushing the ball, just hitting it right at the defenders...

I will say this, dropping several routine pop-ups in the infield/foul territory didn't do him any favors.

I’ve seen a few games in person and he is absolutely crushing the ball, just has shitty luck right now.

I know he dropped the one in the Norte Dame series but did he drop another one?

It’s not. People were crushing Jake before that for his strikeouts. Also complete horse shite to blame that series on Jake.

Coomes’s errors in game 2 hurt us so much more than that slide.

I’ve been saying for a month now that we need slaughter to get at bats. We will need him more than Bain come post season.

Yes, I have watched him drop 2 gimmes (one being the ND one). I am sure there is some Slaughter hater on here who has the other video clip(s) saved, but I dont remember which game it was.

I haven't given up on the kid, but a lot of people on here have. I think he will be provide some clutch hitting for us down the stretch.

Hit a clutch homer in Omaha.

His career is already a success.

When little brother has better players and slaughter all around you have a problem

Don't think so. Doesn't appear to have the demeanor. Looks as though he places too much pressure on himself.

I can’t even comprehend what the hell your attempting to say. Punctuation goes a long way.

Jake had 2 of our 10 hits last night but what fans will remember is he also hit into TWO inning-ending double plays with one of them in the eighth inning when a base hit could have tied the game.

Someone used this as a defense of Bain the other day in a thread where a lot of people were shitting on Slaughter. It's funny how people can be selective about the same information.

On a non-Slaughter note that I uncovered while checking some stats: The haters can just go ahead and frick right off about Beau Jordan. People are clinging to at bats from early in his career saying he strikes out too much and can't see a breaking ball.

He's striking out 10% (10 times in 100 PA) of the time (NCAA average is close to 20.5%). That's good for second among regular starters, behind Broussard.

There is no LSU regular striking out more than NCAA average. In fact only one player at all is, Braden Doughty.

At least he swung the damn bat. I would much rather someone going down hacking then Reid ending the inning on a backwards K with runners on the corners.

His hit led to our only run btw.
