Should Rice and SELU be playing right now?

Rain is done for the night. Many other games are taking place. Rule book says nothing against it. Had LSU's game gone on as planned (Or the next game for that matter), Alex Box workers would still be there anyway.

And I know this falls on the NCAA.

Thoughts?

Yes. It's ridiculous that they aren't.

Wish more pics would have been posted from the Box, looked at lightning strike map & there wasn't any close this evening. Plenty of other teams have played in the rain.

guess it just depends on the field conditions

the field is probably drenched and would take a while to get playable

A&M is in the 4th. NC State is in the 7th. Sam Houston in the 7th. And a couple others just ended.

They're playing in Lafayette right now. I know it's a different surface but still they should be at least finishing up the Rice-Southeastern game.

that's the difference between a 99.8% artificial surface (only the mound is natural) vs. a 100% natural surface

esp. since when they pull the tarp all that water on it is just going to pool in the outfield

It's my understanding that tBox drains very well. By the time both teams got loose and ready, I'm sure it would be fine. There's a game currently in the 5th inning still being played. Rice/SELU wouldn't even be the last game to finish.

I think at this point it has more to do with the amount of rain and the field not getting a chance to drain.

yes it does... but that's 2 full days of rain... the dirt can only soak up so much rain water

ETA: I know tBox drains a million times better than Segnette Field and Generals Field

Exactly what I was thinking. Pics I saw didn't have hardly any water standing in foul territory.

Sam Houston beats Princeton 7-2

Princeton eliminated

SHSU plays the Arizona/ULL loser (and I guess will do so w/o their HC)

Well that's because foul territory isn't grass
