So what other coach from New Orleans you want to replace him with?
Posted on 10/8/17 at 3:33 pm to saturncube21
Yes. Was an atrocious hire. I mean, they literally had to hire another coach to teach him how to coach. fricking joke.

It's a bad look to continually fire these guys after 1 season and your playing with fire if you fire another Nola guy.

frick having a New Orleans guy. Go get the best WR coach available to, you know, actually teach these WRs how to play.
It was very telling when Jerry Sullivan was interviewed by Jordy and T-Bob and he said Mickey doesn't know much about coaching WRs

I'd give him another offseason to prove his worth, but we have to see improvement from the receivers next season. Their coaching was terrible last season so it's going to take a while to break some of the bad habits that were taught.

You have any specific grievances with him?
Not being a smart arse, btw.

We have replaced the WR coach every year for the past 3 years. Maybe these guys need continuity.

How's having a New Orleans native helping LSU this recruiting cycle? All the best WRs in the area are committed to out of state schools. In fact LSU doesn't have any commits out of New Orleans right now

Seems like our receivers quit after their route is "complete" when the quarterback is scrambling for his life. They all just watch him run instead of coming back to help him by trying to get open. Gary Danielson called this out yesterday too. If you get the chance to go to the game in person, watch our receivers closely. Not a well coached group at all.

Oh. I see. Thanks for being so specific.
I remember a couple of drops in each of our losses, but I don't have access to the all 22 to see exactly what's happening on every play.
From what I am able to see on the broadcasts is that Etling does a very poor job gong through his progressions.

Bad hire. Need to move on.

Never should have been hired in the first place!

Keys, Jason, Chase, Beal, Foucha this year.
Emery, Starks*, Bush, Torbor next year.
Clayton and Moore the year after.
*Starks moved to Mississippi this year, not sure if he'll be back or not (doubt it), but Joseph was probably involved with his recruiting to this point.
Given how political New Orleans recruiting can be, we're still having making up ground with guys because of getting rid of Juluke last year. I'm not sure it's the best strategy to be on our third WR coach (Craig, Joseph, new guy) in three years and our fourth New Orleans area recruiter (Wilson, Juluke, Joseph, new guy) in four years.
My biggest negatives with the receivers has been that they don't block particularly well.
I think Joseph was a panic/reactionary hire, but I haven't seen that the receivers are a disaster and wouldn't kick him to the curb based on my feelings above.
