You're a fine one to talk about ignoring points. All you do is shite talk other people, you don't introduce valid points to thread.

Name one valid point you've introduced that wasn't connected to your undying love for JL.
Posted on 11/16/11 at 12:13 am to John McClane
Eh, this stuff isn't worth getting caught up in and I have done my share of it too. There isn't enough of a difference between two QB's to warrant such loyal followings. Hate to say it, but it will be sort of a relief when they are gone.

Come to think of it, I made a valid point that you agreed with. I said it would have been a safety regardless against wku.

Let's look at this drive summary. Bama.
8-31 Punt JL Incomplete pass, 2 yd Ware run, incomplete pass
3-2 INT
6-9 Punt JJ rush for 1, JJ incomplete, JJ complete 3 yd.
11-74 FG JJ 29 yds. to 8, then two incomplete passes inside the 10, and we kick.
6-12 Punt pass complete for (-2), JJ sacked
1-0 INT
8-31 Punt JJ rush for 2, Ford (-1), JJ incomplete
4-2 FG Ford 0, JJ -1, JJ 3
3-8 Punt JJ 2 Hilliard 2 Ford 4
6-40 Punt we run ware 3 times straight after a JJ 18 yard pick up.
5-17 FG 4 runs, kick it.
Now, what did JJ do that was SO special he was the game for us? He played keep away, and Wing kept us in great field position.
ETA: The plays given are the plays that led to the result of the end of the drive.

Ok to answer your question about what did JJ do that was SO special that he was the game for us?
Answer: He played like a senior is supposed to. Calm, composed and acts like he's seen and been in big games before surrounded by 100,000+ hostile fans. He played like he had been playing as the starter all season. He ran the plays and played mistake free. Something Lee did NONE of.
Truth be told JJ did nothing special. He just did what LSU NEEDED HIM TO DO. Which was be an experienced veteran.....be a senior........be a leader.
Look I supported Lee ALLL YEAR LONG. I felt all season as I do now that he should be the legitimate starter and Im PRO JJ. Ive always liked JJ better than Lee but Lee earned the position this year in my eyes..........
.......BUT.........
Like an earlier poster stated people had in the back of their minds the following questions about Lee:
1. What happens if a defense stuffs the run and we have to throw more than we run?
2. What happens if the play action isnt as effective as before?
3. What happens if Randle goes up against NFL caliber corners who are just a fast and talented as he is?
4. What happens if the secondary doesnt get sucked into the box because the run has been negated??
The Alabama game answered that question about Lee for us. Bama just wasnt ready for JJ.

And how many of these untoward events did we expect to happen against WKU? How many happened versus anyone not wearing Crimson? Do we expect it to happen against Arkansas(ranked #74 against the run, 173 ypg allowed)? Did we expect the run not to work against WKU (ranked #60 behind several teams that we beat handily before JJ was reinstated)? Arkansas is also allowing 203 ypg passing-shouldn't we think that a balanced offense featuring play action passing would work? Look up the stats-we will not play anyone with anything close to an Alabama caliber defense unless there is a rematch. And I would guess that if there is, $horty will be better prepared for JJ and Ford. Clearly he added another dimension in that game but for anyone to agree with him that he "put the team up on his back" suggests they didn't watch the game. I think the way he was being used upon his return as a change of pace was great, and it did give the opposing DC something else to prepare for, handing him the ball for the entire game and benching the guy that had the offense running smoothly asks for a repeat of 2010 (first half of WKU as evidence).

Yep. I'm hard pressed to believe there's any other fan base more neurotic.

You realize that's a slight to whiny, prepubescent girls, right?

Sorry, my internet crapped out last night after typing out a response to your post. Stupid Cox. Here is what I had written...
quote:
2/3rd's is a majority, he has played about a game and a half total this year....
That's a non response. Why judge his performance THIS YEAR (when we've all seen that our offense is markedly different thanks to the addition of Krags and the departure of Crowton) based on what he did LAST YEAR?
quote:
tell me what JJ has done to EARN your trust as a player....if he has, you must be a trusting fool..
Ahhh...but up until this season I didn't really TRUST either. Both QB's have scared the living shite out of me for different reasons and at different times. Both look tremendously better…not quite weapons in their own right, but no longer obstacles. In the end, I've always come down on the side that Miles and staff see more of their strengths and weaknesses than I do, so I'm going to go with their judgment on this call.
quote:
quite a bit of growing up CAN be done in two years, and the fact that he didnt run away like a little girl and stuck it out only makes him look stronger and tougher...you think JJ would have stayed in the same circumstances??
Why must you guys always construct these straw men to knock over? I have no fricking idea what JJ would have done had he been in that situation, and neither do you, Dr. Freud. Of course, given that you are likely part of the group that stares at still photos of JJ on the sidelines looking to see if he's making a pouty face to thereby suggest he's a dick and a poor leader, I could see why/how you would be sufficiently lettered to make the call on what JJ would have done in your own hypothetical.
That being said, I like Lee. I always have. The maddest I've been at Miles the entire time he's been here was in 2008 when he and Crowton essentially mind fricked Lee on a weekly basis by asking the kid to continually do things he simply wasn't capable of doing. It was awful, and I've always hoped that JL would get a chance to play again to get past those demons. So, I do not dislike Lee by any stretch! Guess what? I can like both guys!
quote:
you think our offense looks well with JJ in?
I'm assuming you mean good, and yes...it looked essentially the same against WKU as it did at any point this season...without pounding the ball quite as much in the first half. Clearly they had a want to have JJ air it out some, which cut down on TOP and meant we didn't pound the run as much in the first half...but JJ's passing numbers were every bit as good as JL's in that half. He was 6-10 for nearly 150 yards and a score. He had one ball that EVERYONE here who blows Lee at every turn would have called a drop in that 50+ yards strike to Shepard. Other than the two sacks (the safety was a horrible call by the staff to send in a passing play with a slow developing single route with no drop offs) what exactly was bad about his play?
quote:
its actually the other way around there bud...
No, it's exactly what I just said. I don't care who plays...you do. Guys are running around here using terms like FAIRNESS in terms of how much their favorite football player is getting! It's like fricking bizzaro world! Most men would bitch at their wives for saying something so pathetic about their own kids in public, and yet when it comes to this situation there is suddenly crying in major college football.
frick man...I had some douche behind me Saturday actually declare he'd have preferred LSU LOSE against BAMA with JL under center than to have won with JJ there! You in that group?

I still refuse to belive their are fans out there who think/feel this way.
Until I hear it with my own two ears Ill continue to say that.

To be honest, he wasn't given a 55% pass / 45% run game plan against Bama's defense either.

Believe what you want, Champ. I actually found it hard to believe myself, and I fricking heard it. Sure...I assumed as much given the vitriol that has been spewed at JJ for a year or two, but to actually hear it was something to behold.

I would agree with you... but.... out of 10 games, JL has thrown 3 Int.'s Thats pretty dam good... too good to just throw in the towel over... JJ obviously does not have the mental capabilities to be a good passer, he cant check down and make quick decisions. JL has shown he can do this, maybe not on an elite level, but good enough... JJ couldnt even pass well against West. Kentucky... we are a better team with both playing..
