I think the argument is that Lee has outplayed JJ and still not "won" the starting job.
For some, I do agree.

Not that Lee "deserves" it from some emotional standpoint.
For a lot of people, it is this, for whatever odd reason.

I also think that some people view Les Mile's public statements regarding the position pretty biased in terms of praising qbs after good performances, etc.
I don't get this either. He's pretty damned complimentary of both guys. He never flinches when media members ask him "trap" question re: Lee, either.
"Coach, were you nervous when you had to put your BACK UP in the game?"
His answer is always something along the lines of having great faith in Jarrett Lee, knowing what he's capable of and not being concerned at all.
I'm guessing what you are referring to is Miles "defending" JJ last year, despite his poor performances, but that I'd say it has more to do with that he's not gonna throw a player under the bus.

play that race card....early and often.

So we changed our blocking scheme because it behooved the current back? Right???
Not the offensive shceme?
That is a "scheme?"
quote:
We adapted and adjusted based on the personell in the game at that time.
JL's "scheme" and JJ's "shceme" arent the same.
They seemed to both run each other's "scheme" last week? So whose is whose?

As I said qb effeiencey is the thing that sticks out most.
An efficient qb generally leads to an efficient offense.
I would expect you to point out this stat, as it's the favorite "Look how awesome Lee is" stat.
Of course efficient QB = efficient offense. That's not really saying much. But efficient offense =/= great offense.
If a QB efficiently completes three 3-yard passes, we will be efficiently punting.

That is the race card? You have officially lost your mind.

Your jig is up brah. No one even really acknowledges you on this board any more because your opinion is so obviously slanted and absurd that it's worthless.

Do you even know what I was saying?
I was saying that SOME PEOPLE DO GENUINELY BELIEVE LEE HAS OUTPLAYED JJ AND NOT WON THE JOB.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Lordy and you think I've "jumped the shark."

I have read that post over and over and can't figure out how the race card would even apply.

I think the issue is that the cheering gets ratcheted up not because Jarrett Lee has a great story, but because by cheering louder for Lee, they are simultaneously expressing their feelings for JJ (as someone explained earlier how a mostly quiet fan gave a gigantic ovation with Lee came into the game).
I would agree there would be some of that and while I dont agree with it they do pay their money and do have the right to cheer how and whom they want.
I would be naive to say that none of it is racial but I do believe that it is very much a minority. I believe the majority is due to his poor play in 2010, his own statements which like it or not have an effect and also the Shady incident which we could debate forever but it does have a negative effect on the way he is viewed.
I think it is disingenuous to lump all in the group of JJ haters as many appreciate Lee's effort and commitment and I for one dont think he is a martyr but I do believe Les has favored JJ over him for whatever and I cant say that it is because JJ has been a better qb.

Same for that Top Water trout guy. The one with the trout looking at you - not the one with the trout hanging. He's good people.

I don't even know why I bother to respond/acknowledge him any more.

For some, JJ a. is completely innocent and b. should start regardless of any backing or valid arguments to the contrary.
Care to establish the difference in biases?

I would agree there are definitely some posters on this board who give JJ a pass on everything. Blame Crowton, the OL the receivers but not JJ. I dont argue Crowton bears blame but to give JJ a pass on some of the worst games I have seen played by an LSU qb is ridiculous.

I can respect your opinion. And USMCTiger.
You guys are capable of supporting Lee as the starter without just being absurd and ridiculous about it.

Not at all. Equally as dumb to feel that way IMO.
Honestly, I feel bad for both Lee and JJ that they were poorly coached until this year... basically.

Likewise OBUDan. As per my reply to Geaux about two reasonable people seeing the same situation and coming to a different conclusion. You make good points and they have been taken. I just see things differently and I may not be right but that is my view.

Posted on 11/16/11 at 4:23 pm to Rudy40
My best buddies all disagree with me on the issue as well, and I respect their opinions, and can see their points as well.
Everyone thinks I hate Jarrett on this site and that's fine, but I cheer like hell when he comes in the game, and want the best for him. I'm really happy he's played like he as thus far.
Posted on 11/16/11 at 4:25 pm to OBUDan
Well I dont think you hate Lee nor do I hate Jefferson. I am guessing we both are very passionate about our Tigers and want to see them win it all and it spills over when making our points.
Best to you!
Best to you!
